Doesn't impact Diallo much (though I do expect he'll leave), but definitely SGA.

NOT hiring a agent so he may be back.

I did not know a player could do that. So how is it determined which G League team he plays for and what happens when he is eligible for the draft?

Not sure but it's about to be the new thing in my opinion, especially if you are THAT GOOD and a shoe company decides it wants to sponsor you, who's going to stop that?

It won't become the new thing unless they find a way to pay them more. Bazley will make about $25,000.

You can make much more than that going to college.

Also, you can do so much for your brand. Who watches the G-League outside of the closed circle of NBA guys? Bazley will be passed up by so many players simply because the players jumping him will be able to market themselves through their college programs. College is still by far the best bet because there's so much interest in the bigger programs (even Syracuse).

Nobody is interested in developmental league basketball. And I mean almost literally nobody in America.

I read an article about the G League....or I guess formerly the D League. I am a bit confused on the set up....it seems like each team can put a maximum of two players that are under contract to the G league....but there is also something about how many years that player has been active. A player 'called up' gets paid a pro rated share of base.....and somewhere I saw that base is 850k.

If a player is strictly G league, I think he's looking at 25 thousand a season. There is some talk of raising this to between fifty and seventy five thousand, but I believe twenty five thousand is it right now.

So if a kid is a first round pick, I assume he gets his money G league or not.

Someone that goes straight to G league is 25K plus any money from call ups.

Now that I've confused everything, someone please straighten me out.

Can't speak to any of the above, but I can add one more confusing wrinkle.

How are high schoolers selected by G-League teams?

First-year players have always been selected in the draft, meaning neither the players nor the teams have much control over who they'll get and when. Does the straight-to-GL route serve as a loophole for the draft process? Can players and teams negotiate, thus rendering the draft obsolete? I'm sure there's something to this that I'm not seeing, because that seems like a possibility that the league would never allow, but how does this work?

I really don't know. I think it may be the same as playing a year in Europe and getting selected....maybe from there?
at the same time, most G league teams are either a direct minor league to one or two specific teams, similar to baseball.
I suppose the g league option is open to under 19, possibly not called up till of age?

Really simpler to just say forget the 19 year old age and go ahead and draft the same as baseball and use that as your minor league. Once again, if you go to college, then know it will be a three year gig.

As expected, Michigan State's Jared Jackson declares and hires an agent.

                    Probably a top 6 or 8 pick.

Well- none of our guys have declared yet---think it would be a mistake for any of them --but they never ask my humble opinion!!!!!

No mistake for SGA. I spent half the season denying his talent because I wanted him to return, but he’s clearly a pro.

Scouts are raving over him, and though he could probably go higher in next year’s draft, he’s still a lotto pick this year.

Don't think it would really be a mistake for Knox either, because at some point he'll be a pro. Don't think he'd play much as a rookie maybe but he'd still make first round money while he got his feet under him.

Also don't believe it would be a terrible decision if he returned. But I kind of thought the same thing about Bam and Skal, and those guys have done okay.

PJ declares, will not hire a agent. Where is he going to go? Per Cal's advice, this is just to test the waters in my opinion.....

So P.J. Washington, of all people, is the first to declare.

Of all people that's crazy, he aint even close to being a NBA pro, can't do anything well especially if he thinks he's going to play the post. If 6'7 is the new Draymond Green trend playing center, keep in mind that Draymond actually played point at Michigan State and do a little bit of everything...

                                This blows my mind..............
