So I guess Tom Crean is officially Georgia's coach now.

Why? I think that's a pretty decent hire. they won't win championships or anything but I imagine they improve.

Crean did a pretty good job at IU. He won 2 conference championships in 9 years. Considering the first 3 or 4 were throwaway years that's not bad. His problem was that IU fans think it's still the 1970's and they are one of the top 5 programs in the country and expect a record that shows that.

Crean's a well above average technical coach but is one of the weirder individuals who ever roamed a sideline.

I expect him to do a pretty good job at Georgia. "Pretty good" in this day and age, with as much money as they make, will likely get him fired in six or seven years.

I don't think Crean is a very good coach. Sure he won two Big 10 Titles but you are measured in March. I have said it a million times that outside of Dwayne Wade, he hasn't done anything. Sure he beat us in the tourney a few years ago but IU isn't measured in Sweet 16 banners. He has A LOT to prove IMO.

I thought Matta would've been a fantastic hire at Georgia. So why did he turn down Georgia? Is his heart not in it? Will he go to Louisville? It will be interesting to see where he goes because obviously he's entertaining ideas. If I were Louisville, my short list would be Thad Matta, Kenny Payne, and Scotty Davenport.

I don't care for Crean's style and his antics on the sideline.

U of L might have a hard time convincing Matta to come there and, if Payne's smart, he won't let that be his first head coaching job.

What do you mean Tom Crean is weird on the sideline?

I meant to post “why limit your discussion of Crean’s weirdness to the sideline?”

Matta is probably aware Louisville is in KY. He's made it clear he wouldn't set foot in our redneck infested inbred state. One of the nastier generalizations I've ever heard someone of his "stature" make about a group of people. Publicly at least.

Getting older, wiser and poorer has a tendency to change people's minds.

He would be a good attitude fit for Louisville. Those fans detest the rest of the state as well.

I will bet anyone here a Diet Coke that Chris Mack will be at Louisville next year. I think the deal is done and they are waiting until Xavier is done to announce.
