Plus, Rick only got five games. If they weren't taking the banner down, Rick would've been suspended for a lot more.
Clearly, you're listening to KSR, too.

I'm not, actually. Did they say that on KSR?

I love that last line. The fact that it even needs to be said is beyond comprehension.

When you take a step back and look at the whole mess you'll realize what an absurd situation it really is. Unprecedented in its scumbaggery.

Yet Rick Pitino continues his Energizer Bunny act. Only at Louisville. If they were smart, they'd clean house from Jurich to Pitino while they're cleaning everything else. What a crappy year for that school.

The five-game suspension (and reasoning that KC mentioned above) should tell you all you need to know about the NCAA's intentions. The goal is to make this thing hurt real, real bad, and the suspension would've been much longer if the full punishment didn't include more severe consequences.

Jones brought this up, too: their three-year run from 2012-14 or so is arguably their best in program history. They could lose it all, and will if we're correctly interpreting the punishment.

                    That's insane.

If there's one thing our very own Ware Gigot aka Dr. H. Lecter is good at, it's weeding out the scum at the UofL cesspool.

Here's what he has to say on another board:

"The NCAA is allowing the UofL to self report playing games with players it must now acknowledge as ineligible. This allows UofL to pull the banner down itself. There is no doubt and is recorded who was on the floor that makes a game be vacated. If UofL self admits to the games...it keeps the NCAA from being sued. Formality. The banners, F4 and NatChampionship are GOOOOOOOONNNNNNE."

I tend to agree with him, for the first time in the history of anything.

The banners are gone, folks. It's all a formality at this point.

Yes, it's schadenfreude, but I don't care. I really hope this happens.

Not sure why the NCAA would allow/force Louisville to self-report. If they know who the players were, then why not go ahead and make a ruling on the banner(s).

The NCAA stripped Memphis's runner-up banner. The specific language is on page 18.

I don't get it, either. It's like they're giving UofL one last chance to show the world that they can tell the truth about something.

The NCAA just announced that they will let Louisville "identify the games impacted."

That's still bizarre to me. They know the years and the games and the players.

And if UofL's findings aren't consistent with the NCAA's?

                                This doesn't make sense.
