    Chuck Smrt.

That's all I wanted to say really.

Right, and in many, many cases (such as this one) it's simply another formality and/or means of delaying the inevitable.

Many sports articles stating NCAA drops the hammer on UofL. Hardly!

Chuck Smrt is confirming the amount of games and tourney games that would be vacated, so they're not even going to try to lie and save themselves from the banner-stripping.

Their only hope is an appeal.

And to give us something wring our hands about a little longer.

What would you consider a hammer?

They're getting four seasons of wins, a national championship and two Final Fours vacated.

UofL is #10 in NCAA wins all-time. Today's ruling could mean they're no longer Top 25 in all-time wins.

That sounds like a fairly significant penalty to me.

I imagine there's a lot of nervous folks at Chapel Hill right about now.

If this isn't a hammer I don't know what is.

Imagine just the self-imposed penalty of losing a year of the NCAA Tournament. Imagine how grueling that would be for UK fans.

Then this on top of it.

                    This was devastating.

Ok, Sorry. I thought the title was still in doubt.

In more comical news, Rick Pitino has "lost all faith in the NCAA."

Could that boner be any less self-aware?

The only bigger hammer would have been the death penalty. The NCAA is never going to that again. So this was about as big a hammer as they could put down. UL can appeal of course but from what I remember the NCAA usually doesn't reduce much after an appeal. At most I can remember is when a school has gotten multiple years of post season banishment and the NCAA has come back and reduced it by one year. This wasn't the case here. You have players they have identified as being ineligible. If the NCAA has any integrity at all they can could never go back say they then were eligible. I really can't see much of a reduction on any of these penalties unless it would be in the monetary part.
As someone pointed out it must a legal thing for the NCAA to put the onus on UL to finger the games the players played in. They know who they are and could easily find the games they played in. It just sort of legal hoops they are with I would think.

This is the beginning of the end of Rick Pitino at Louisville.

They won't fire him, because they have no morals in that athletic department, but the man sitting on that stage today looks defeated and broken. He thought he was above reproach, and has been slapped back to Earth.

This has been a devastating day for that school and its cesspool of an athletic department.

Well folks, i think it's time to get some tissue paper and get on facebook and cry with all the U of L fans

Louisville on probation about to have the first banner since the mid 80's taken down
North Carolina next on the list
Kentucky Wildcats with a strong team next year BAMBA or not
Duke with a sub par recruiting class
The Boston Celtics with the number one pick in the draft and about to sign Blake Griffin and maybe Gordon Hayward
The LA Dodgers with a kid who's leading the MLB in home runs and boosting the Dodgers to the best record in the league since his arrival
The 49ers with a great young coach and all kinds of money and picks to rebuild a real football team with the hard hitting ex safety John Lynch as Gm who reminds me of the John Calipari of football the way recruits

Scott Drew will be Louisville's next coach. I'm saying it here first.

                                Watch and see.
