He was a long time ref in 90's and 00's.....

I can't believe you've never heard of him....

He screwed up at least two UK games royally..... '95 against UNC and 2001 against St. John's...actually publicly apologized for St. John's screw up. Call out of bound off Prince when it was clearly off St. Johns player....

He missed many calls over the years and there are many articles and discussions on him. ESPN's Dana O'Neal even interviewed him after he retired....

He started really missing calls badly late in his run...

Just Google his name and you can read many many articles about his and others misses, some very big.

      Also did '92 UK-Duke game....

That St. John's game was the only UK game that I've ever seen that was 100% decided by the officials.

Here's an article on John Higgins...very in depth. Tells you about everything you need to know....

He has a brother named Tim, but I can't find if he is the son of the "infamous" Tim Higgins. I'm sure LH would know...

John Higgins is no stranger to the Final Four. He's been one of 10 referees assigned to college basketball's biggest stage, six times. During the 2013 NCAA Division I championship game between Louisville and Michigan, he was one of three officials calling the game.

Apparently not. According to the article, I've linked below, John's dad was a h.s. fb & bb coach.

Boy there is lot in that SI article that tells you what is wrong with officiating. The travel is a big problem. No way he can be on top of his game when works 5 or 6 nights a week in a different town. There's no way the NCAA should allow that.
              Kentucky fan since 1971.

No, John is no relation of Tim. Tim was a well respected official in his prime, but stayed around a couple years too long.

I wish I knew!! He in my opinion the worst official working big games. His primary conference is the Big 12. I met Curtis Shaw, the Big 12 supervisor, but failed to ask him at that time, but you can be sure, if I ever see him again I will ask.

Curtis Shaw being the Big 12 supervisor is mind boggling.

If true, that is pathetic. I hope they catch them.

I saw it too, but being on social media doesn't make it true, but it probably is. You're right, time to move on.
