My question is. Is it worth the buy-out plus the kind of contract Miles would want to take the gamble?

I'd take Miles in a heartbeat. No, he isn't the best out there by any means, but we've shown no signs that we'll do what it takes to get even the lowest man on most wish lists. If it's between Miles and another gutless, soon-to-be-flameout (as is our norm), I'll take Miles every day of the week. At least he's shown some ability to recruit and win.Comment

I would hire Miles today if it were possible. As long as Cam Cameron didn't follow him here as OC.Comment

Once you dip below a certain tier, maybe. But Saban could succeed at A LOT of schools:
USC
OREG
STAN
TEX
BU
OU
OSU
UM
MSU
LSU
UF
UGA
MIAMI
FSU
I could see Saban stepping into any one of those programs and getting them to a national championship within three years, tops. After that you look at UofL, PennSt., TCU and he'd still probably do fine.

Disagree.
Nick Saban would win and win at the highest level anywhere he went, barring a place like maybe Kansas or other complete cellar-dwellers. He's arguably the best college football coach of all time.Comment

He averaged 10 wins a season at LSU. If that equates to "if he cain't weeyun at LSYew", I don't know how one defines winning.
I've got some friends I chuckle at, who, in one breath say they'd just be happy with 7-8 wins a season, a bowl game every year or so and a 9 win season here and there. Then when Miles is suggested, that bar is suddenly raised to where he's unacceptable.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
