I look for Miles to end up on ESPN. He did a couple of commercials for them in the past and seemed comfortable in front of the camera.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

Put it this way, he isn't an elite coach...

And he screws up routine game management stuff on a fairly regular basis.

Miles was a great recruiter, unfortunately for him he didn't recruit a great quarterback for about 4 years, it did him in.

There are so many moving parts to being a successful head coach. Pobilly peaked my curiosity about the QB failings at LSU. I check the roster in 2014. There were 7 QB's listed: (2) walk-ons, (3) 3 Star, and (2) 4 Star QBs. So was it bad luck none of these were able to step up? Lack of development? It may be too early for me to determine what the outcome will be at Kentucky, but right now the combination of Gran and Hinshaw seems golden. You've got to have a top notch OC and QB coach to develop and use the talent you have offensively. Miles is probably a good recruiter, but recruiting talent has never been a problem at LSU. Not that I can remember. I think the issues Miles encountered likely revolved around the parts and pieces not fitting together. When you have talent everywhere it might be too easy to overlook the importance of the parts and pieces. Just recruiting is not enough. You have to develop and mentor these guys. Saban seems to be going after our QB commits. I hope he stays away from out parts and pieces ... Gran and Hinshaw.

Bama has one decent QB go through, one. I don't see the "he didn't recruit a great QB for about 4 years" argument. I see that he wasn't a very good coach argument, for sure. I also don't think he surrounded himself with the best coaching staff.

LSU didn't land quality QBs at anywhere near the rate that they landed superb OLs, DLs, DBs, RBs, WRs, etc. Granted, LSU had phenomenal success building terrific talent and depth at just about every position, but LSU even setting that aside, LSU just didn't land as many good QB recruits as a program of that caliber should. And on top of that, many of their highly ranked QB recruits just didn't pan out, in weird ways.

5 star Russell Shepard, the #1 ranked QB his year on some lists, moved to WR.

5 star Ryan Perriloux, also the #1 ranked QB his year on some lists, ended up in trouble and out of the program.

Rick Clausen didn't add up and they went with lightly regarded Matt Mauck, who ended up being the unlikely MVP of the SEC Championship Game.

Jarrett Lee didn't really get it done, so Andrew Hatch, a transfer from Harvard of all places who sat out for a Mormon mission, became the starter.

Jordan Jefferson was a top 10 recruit at his position but probably was never a top 10 quarterback in the SEC, out of only 12 at the time, and that was despite playing with terrific backfield weapons (Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, Steven Ridley, Kenny Hilliard) and a slew of excellent receivers (Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Brandon LaFell, Terrance Tolliver, Rueben Randle, Richard Dickson).

Zach Mettenberger landed there and didn't work out despite having Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Russell Shepard and Travin Dural as receivers.

Brandon Harris: has Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre lining up at WR and Leonard Fournette in the backfield - all three for three years! - and can't go from top 10 QB recruit to top 10 in the SEC.

Phillip Rivers' 6'8" brother didn't work out at QB.

JaMarcus Russell was the only exception, I guess, in a span of, what, 15 years?

LSU's persistent QB woes have just been weird...like a voodoo curse or something. How do you have an offensive line three deep with huge 4 and 5 star players, some of the best RBs and WRs in the country, top 10, top 5 and #1 ranked QB prospects cycling through, and almost never have even halfway decent QB play? It's baffling to me.
