How big is this when Pinkel goes looking for a job?

Have you identified each and every person, in the pic, as being members of the Missouri fb team?

It's the impression I get from Pinkel's tweet. The text accompanying this was: The Mizzou Family stands as one. We are united. We are behind our players. #ConcernedStudent1950 GP

JFCats22 lives in Missouri, and he states, on the previous page, that the entire team is definitely not on board with this. Since he lives there, I believe I'll go with what he says rather than what you think. No offense, but he seems to be in a better position to know than either of us.

I'm really an outsider on this. I don't know the complete history of what was going on at Mizzou. Possible I wouldn't understand if I did. it's just an awfully odd thing when a coach makes a decision like Pinkell did. He has long had the rep as a players coach.
I doubt we've heard the last of this...not in the long run.

I'd say you're right, Bill. I saw on the Internet, this morning, where the Dean Of Students has resigned at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Calif. due to student concerns over her office not doing enough to address racism on campus. What we're seeing may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Yes, he should be fired. Also, I don't see and AD that would touch him as a HC or an assistant, knowing he was part of the anarchy at that institution.

Could be that the coach had no choice. If a large segment of players wants to organize there's virtually nothing that these coaches can do. It's easy to say take the field without them...but you don't know what the relationship is between him and these players. The truth is that if athletes want to take a stand like that, they can't be stopped. They could bring these games completely down.

If you're a coach of a team that's going to be 75%+ African-American, you're going to hold a completely different set of beliefs than an all-white group of message board posters hundreds of miles away. You're going to have much deeper relationships with those players and you're going to see it in a much softer light than we would.

It certainly sounds good to say their scholarships should be stripped and he should be fired, but again I think that kind of sentiment shows the massive disconnect between us and them.

And that doesn't mean they're right in what they did. Just means that we're coming at this from a radically different place.

This movement is spreading...or is becoming open. Emory, Ithaca and others are being presented with lists of demands. Racism seems to be rampant. Or we are starting a new era of McCarthyism where not toeing a certain line is career suicide

“Not everyone agrees with the decision [to stop all football activities],” the player said. “Most people are pissed, including the black guys [on the team].”
The player, who is white, also told McMurphy that if Mizzou were 9-0 — the Tigers are 4-5 and on a four-game losing streak — the strike wouldn’t have happened.

Does anyone think it strange that this came about due to the actions of the most privileged section of the student body? Housing, tuition, medical care, food, tutors, fame, adoration by the fan base....but aligning with a section of the student body wanting equality? I will agree. Treat all students like the football team.

The cynic in me wonders how the kids at Emory and Ithaca will fare without a power 5 sports program to back them by threatening walkout.

All of this goes further into the "Crapification of America" This country is turning to complete garbage. Give in to everyone who complains and is offended. It's embarrassing and disgusting.
