They will be hard pressed to scrape together enough money to pay Petrino to go away, and donors aren't beating down the doors to cover the costs of handing millions to other people to go away. If those pink seats stay empty going into next season they're going to have a really tough situation.

That's a Major problem for Petrino. Especially the son who is the QB coach. He wasn't very good at Trinity, and last year I laughed every time he was interviewed and said how he was helping Lamar develop. Please!!

To be clear I agree that the Petrino thing isn't working out as they thought it would. But they've still owned us and he has won 3/4 in the meetings against Stoops at UK. The winning percentge should decrease a bit this year.

Two U of L trustees confirmed this week that U of L doesn't have the financial resources to buy out Petrino's contract.

"The university is not in a position to buy him out.”

“I know the university’s cash resources are depleted. It may be a blessing in disguise that we don’t have all the money in the world right now ‘cause it will force us to keep our coach and help him to improve his staff.”

That last part is mighty feeble spin. It is not a blessing to be in such a shoddy financial position, and saddled with such a lopsided contract, that you cannot afford to shed a poor performer whose poor performance is going to compound your financial problems as fans stay away. (It looks like a pretty blunt suggestion that Petrino needs to ditch the nepotism hires.)

Exactly....Catch 22. And IF they did have money, who wants to work with that a-hole??? No one. That's why his family is on the staff. UL had BB coaches who provided improper benefits(Paying for Bowden's family to stay at the Galt House) WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION FOR PROVIDING IMPROPER BENEFITS(working girls for recruits and family). That school is toe to toe with the death penalty.
