    More than enough.
Can't imagine Trent staying. And I would imagine Duval tries to leave as well.

What? Our guys can go pro on potential but Duke's can't?

K doesn’t push them to the NBA like Cal does

Cal is getting dragged by K, and you've got to think the competitor in him hates it.

Let's see if he makes some changes. He either adjusts accordingly, or we're seeing the end of Cal's run at Kentucky.

You think he can turn it around? Honestly? Not saying I don't, but I'm not quite sure how that happens at this point.

Well, Downes, there are a LOT of recruits, and a lot of good ones. We will still get our fair share. And it's not like Johnson, Herro or Quickley are scrubs. Remember, most schools would kill to have just one of those guys.

The issue for us is having guys return next year. If they all bolt to the G-league (a ridiculous possibility), we could be looking at big time trouble next year. If the main core comes back with another year's experience, we get our recruiting class, and, say, Wiseman reclassifies, then we look back at tonight and shrug.

That's a lot of IFs, though. If the opposite happens, and we see a mass exodus, and Cal can't get anymore guys, and we stumble through another mediocre season, the fans will start to grumble loudly, Cal will get more burned out, and it'll be the end of him at Kentucky.

But I tend to think the competitive fire is still there for him; watching K's success on the recruiting trail has to be eating at him. I'll venture to say that reports of his demise are probably premature.

This is what I'm asking about. At nine years in and closer than ever to the end of his career, is it realistic to think that Cal adjusts his strategy and regains his recruiting edge? Again - not saying it isn't possible. I'm just wondering how that happens.

K's older and has adapted numerous times at this point, so it isn't impossible. Can Cal?

Sure, he can. And I think that he wants to. I don't think he's anywhere near done coaching yet.

He needs to start by getting rid of Justice and (especially) Tony Barbee. They're just not getting it done. I don't care what happened at his last job; he needs to get O on the phone tonight. O is the counterbalance to Jeff Capel, who is without a doubt, the best recruiter in college basketball.

Duke now has (by far) the greatest recruiting class in college basketball history.

Gotta lace 'em up and play, but on paper it's absolutely filthy.

I hate 'em, but I've gotta give 'em props, too.

More than anything, now you have to hope Williamson just keeps getting fatter.

From what I read in the following article, we were not in the running. Am I reading it wrong?

We were 5th or 6th. smh

                              Maybe....

                              Better assistants?
Cal losing with the USA team had a much bigger impact than we want to admit.
K selling recruits on this being his swan song before he pulls the pin?

Don't know. Something is amiss. Cal is a good coach but not good enough to win it all without some super stars, imo. He needs to turn it around.

These players have shown traditionally that they often want to join up on good teams with players they're familiar with on the AAU circuit--i.e. similarly ranked players. You've seen it with Duke last year, this year, and next year. The three times with Cal starting with the Memphis group he brought over to UK. North Carolina did it a couple of times there in 2006-'09.

When you miss on those very top players and another school starts to grab them, then your chances of missing on that next player go down. Reddish led to Barrett led to Zion. Last year Carter led to Bagley which led to Duvall. Before that it was Giles that led to Tatum which led to Bolden.

When you start grabbing your top pick early then it seems like these staffs are more able to pull in those late signees. Cal has missed on his top guy now for the past three recruiting cycles, and that's made the whole house of cards start to wobble.

It's kind of the superteam mentality you're seeing in the NBA.
