It was a great time to be a fan of the NBA. Somewhere along the way, they lost it though and I can't put my finger on the one thing or things that attributed to the fall. FWIW, the Celtics were my team, though I had no hate for Magic. Everyone else on the Lakers I couldn't stand. Larry Bird is my all time favorite player.

People act like we've never seen a basketball player put up the numbers LeBron does. Bird did. We just have never seen someone as athletic and naturally gifted as LeBron. He's a freak of nature athletically. But, he won't ever make my top five. Jordan, Bird, Magic, and Kareem will, IMO, forever be the top four guys ever. Then you can go Wilt, Oscar, Russell, Duncan, Kobe, and probably LeBron to round out the top ten, in no particular order.

Two great players who would have won more championships if they had not played in the same era. Maybe by the end of Lebron's career I will think differently but for now he would be 4th, at best, on my list.
Labron would be 5th on my list because Dr J would be anywhere in the top 4 you mention.

How's Bill Russell not in your top five?

He would most likely be 5th. The top four are in order and 6-10 were not. You can make arguments either way for any of them.

When you talk about greatness you're really parsing players into the tiniest slivers of what we can measure. It's like talking about beautiful women: at a certain point does it really matter?

But nobody I've ever seen play the game can do what LeBron can do. And I watched Jordan religiously as a kid, as everybody did in my generation.
As much as I like Jordan, I have to lean towards Lebron and im not even a huge fan of James. Lebron is a player who can range from 240-260 who's athletic enough to outrun point guards and physically punish a post player, just freakish on another level.

If you arent watching, you're missing out.
I agree, just exciting to watch the best basketball players in the world compete night in and night out and with Cal putting UK players in the draft year in and year out, it's the icing on the cake for me.

Archie is on his way to help Davis. Jones is still on the team as well, correct?

Yep. Besides Davis and Jones, NO is a dumping ground for mid to low tier players, may as well bring M. Teague and D. Lamb to the team as well.

May as well make this the ex Wildcat/NBA thread.

In other news, Celtics are discussing Wcs for Terry Rozier/James Young swap. I'll take that deal, C's need a rim protector but the Wildcat in me hopes that Young stays put in Boston and someone else is dealt for Stein. In all reality, Young is actually having a good season and starting to shoot the ball with consistency......

I saw a headline of Lamb getting picked up. Don't know who it was though.

Knicks D League affiliate. I would have thought that D. Lamb would have stayed in the league on a regular by now. Good size, can play a few positions, not the most athletic but can still shoot the ball in a league that is created for shot makers now a days......
