In all the Pitino talk not much has been discussed about what a big win that was for this Kentucky team. They're still inconsistent, but when they put it in gear they've shown that they can really play. That run at the end of the first half and early second was impressive.

Huge win. Will pay dividends going forward because that's a good UofL team. I think they're going to finish in the top quarter of the ACC, and we'll be able to use that win to build our resume.

Now the question will be can this team win on the road. We're about to find out.

                  And Ulis...man.

Notched himself right into UK history with that game. The guy is like the anti-Skal. Total gamer.

Big win yes. Lucky win yes. Good thing it didn't go to overtime because we woulda lost. We had a 16 point lead and it slipped away because we have no frontcourt. We hit A LOT of lucky, deep in the shot clock 3's. I'm glad we were fotunate enough to hit them but I came away from this win worried. All my UL friends came away from their loss happy. That speaks volumes IMO. We are a Sweet 16 team at best. I'm not trying to sound all Crazzed but it is what it is and we aren't good at all.

Of course they did, lol. If you're "happy" after losing to your archrival then you're an idiot.

That was a good team we beat without a starter. No reason to be worried at all IMO. We are what we are: a team with some good pieces that's going to need a whole lot of luck to be a player in March. But that's what we were in 2011 and 2014 too, so you never know.

I dvred the game and just watched it again....UL was in the double bonus from the 10 minute mark on in the 2nd half so I don't want to hear the UL fans crying about the refs

Im getting in late on this but it is what it is? Its a win. We let a 16 point lead slip away because we were good enough to build one. I agree the team has issues but would you rather be UL? They lost, so did Duke. Skal isn't what we thought but Lee and Poythress are good enough in the front court. If you ask me our front court wasn't what lost the lead it was half of our backcourt. Murray couldn't have played any worse if you paid him to.

                              Agree with all of this.

Who cares that we lost a lead? We're not the coach. We're fans. We aren't paid to correct the issues.

We won. We needed that win badly. We beat a pretty good team. The worries and concerns and fears are for Cal to worry about, not us.

One thing I saw is that we played the last 5 minutes of the 1st half and the first 5 of the second at a super high level. Like top five high. But that's been the issue with this team since the start: we follow really good stretches with total mediocrity.

That's what young teams do. You have to hope Cal finds a way to correct it by March, but until then I think it's probably best to celebrate the wins because this team is just flawed. Most teams in college basketball are, especially this year.
