People in panic mode over Freeman and this is still going on. I say Pope should have left that guy and went all in on Rancik.
Freeman agent and handlers are a mess.
Hearing rumors that Nolan Winter from Wisconsin may hit the portal.
6’11, 220 PF, 13ppg, 8.5rpg, 33% from 3.
He’s Carr 2.0, IMHO. I think he is better than Carr defensively speaking.
Perfect fit for Pope at PF.
That's someone I could get excited about. Looks like a stronger, more polished and less robotic version of Andrew Carr. Numbers definitely look good. Watching highlights he definitely looks like a guy who could start and see the majority of his minutes at the 4 but would also have no problem whatsoever spelling Moreno and seeing some time at the 5. And hey, maybe he's good friends with Blackwell and could bring him to Kentucky with him....

Yeah.... truthfully, I liked Rancik better....but who's going to publicly say "I'd like to see them pass on the #15 player overall in favor of a guy ranked somewhere in the 40s"? It's hard to justify to people why you'd rather see a player rated a 93 taken over another player rated 96. Sometimes, it's the eye test and personal taste, other times it's a gut feeling. Just had a gut feeling with Freeman.

Careful. Somebody almost had a stroke when I posted a comment from a UK fan earlier today like you just did.
Everywhere I've looked says Freeman is indeed committed to St. John's though I'm not sure what he's talking about. Hopefully today is the last day we hear about Freeman, I'm ready for him to fall back into irrelevancy & never hear from him again.

I do believe it is like us. Zoom has signed. Wilkins not yet. Freeman until he signs is no a Johnnie officially. I would not be surprised if his handlers are not out now trying to get Tennessee in a bidding war. UK stopped does not mean it is over.

If his handlers are real POS, I'm surprised Pope and staff would have prioritized him like they did. Freeman is a nice player, but not worth double and then some what Florida State is paying Rancik.

Word was that Freeman had given Pope a verbal and then the agent got involved with trying to get in a bidding war. That is why I said what I did.
I wonder if Stokes is not playing us. I think if he wanted to play at UK HE WOULD HAVE COMMITTED. FRANKLY I'M NOT REAL SURE HE'S all I tHAT
Let him go to Oregon. Would be a better fit. He can have a few trips east for big 10 games and rot out west. Get portal guys that are proven college players. Or possibly a euro guy.

I agree, but the real problem is with Pope.
I haven't been anywhere near as critical of Pope as a vast majority of our fan base has...but in this sense I have been and I'm going to be. And that is what the Michigan fan (white guy with goatee, sorry, I don't know his name) in this video is saying. It's a Sleepers Media video, and I'm not a fan of their's but....when they're right they're right. And at the 4 minute mark through the 5 and a half minute mark...I think he pretty much nails what has been Mark Pope's problem this off-season and how he has mishandled it and brought a lot of it on himself:
Hell, f*** it, maybe Kam Williams can be the first player in basketball history to start at both the 3 & the 4. If thats Pope's plan he's nailing it good job.

Doubtful he'll enter the transfer portal, but if he does it may be even more doubtful that Pope would seriously consider him. He may view him as "backup plan material" like he did Rancik and miss out on him to a team that prioritizes him. The way Pope is being so picky about who he recruits seriously versus just who he mentions/contacts, it's hard to get a feel for who he might land.

After what Illinois just did as a Euro pro team I’ve been wondering where the next wave of Euros are. Hearing all too much about portal guys and basically nothing out of Europe.
