Is it possible this thing is taking a little longer than expected with commitments simply because POPE is looking at not only talent, but the right character guys as well??
After last season, I would assume Pope does not want another team full of bad apples behind the scenes.
Yes I am frustrated with the recruiting, the sub patterns, the injuries, the lop sided losses, all of the above.
I guess 3rd year Pope will make or break him one way or another.
I don't have the ties or ins and outs of inside Kentucky basketball these days so it's mostly speculation outside looking in. I would still like to see a few alumni on the staff mainly Rondo if he's even interested in coaching. I know Rajon since he was a youngster, haven't talked to him in a while, last I heard ( think i saw it too) he was building a monster mansion out in Shelby Jefferson county lines. His son is playing ball and maybe that's his focus, who knows?
Anyways, Pope has ties to Derek Anderson, W. Turner, Delk, Sheppard, others. I don't know what is going on behind the scenes but it would be nice to know or even see that those old teammates are involved helping him off the court every step of the way. Man needs help from those who understand it all in my opinion...Comment

I guess this is where I'm going to disagree. I don't want people hired because of their association and ties with UK. I want the best and most qualified person, even if they previously were associated with a bitter rival. I'm sure Louisville fans were happy when UL hired the former UK coach, Rick Pitino. I'm sure Florida fans liked how hiring that former UK assistant coach, Billy Donovan, turned out for them.
So give me the best. We've seen how hiring people "associated with and that have ties to" has turned out for other schools (Matt Doherty and Hubert Davis at UNC) as well as for us (Mark Pope).👍 1Comment

Then this is where I specifically say you get on the phone with RONDO and see it he is interested. NBA champion, mathematical guru. It's not his fault Tubby Smith and Doc Rivers didn't know their own playbooks. Rondo is fresh out of the league, knows what really goes on behind the scenes, can be a great asset recruiting, teaching point guards, and doing Pope's dirty work behind the scenes getting into the chest of these younger guys to make sure they understand the mission.

From what I see the past few years and the "GIVE ME THE BEST' is that the best doesn't want to touch Kentucky with a ten foot poll. Coaches, recruits, all of the above. Nobody is beating down the doors to make Kentucky irrelevant again, it's almost as if they all enjoy seeing Kentucky basketball's downfall.
Kentucky needs a GM, why not Dan Issel? Does his reume" not speak for itself, forget about what he did at Kentucky..
It's almost feels like it's US against the World, we may have no choice but to build it back up from within. Again, nobody beating the doors down to coach or play for Kentucky...Comment
