I was a Cal fan and didn't want to see things end the way they did, but I also believed he, as an employee of the university, should have been held accountable for not always prioritizing the needs of his employer.
This is pretty well how I see it, too.

BCG was rock bottom. Cal's last 5 years were certainly not up to to the standard. I don't think you can judge a coach on a select portion of his tenure. Last 5 years were horrible. But, the first several were pretty historic.

Five years AFTER he leaves Arkansas/retires.

I knew Cal was a downhill trek even as Bo Ryan stole his soul in the Final Four. I've been a huge detractor since.

        I don't care.

He deserves to be up there.

But, since he chose to go to Arkansas, that celebration has to have some space.

We will have to agree to disagree..I was in Rupp when they put his jersey in the rafters
it was emotional and Tubby and his family were very appreciative
and I love Cal...he will be up there too...one day

I think we should put BCG up there upside down with Dr. Pepper perpetually running down his face.

I kind of break his run into three segments. First segment was amazing and probably won't be duplicated (I don't think any coach could've come in and did what Cal did right off the bat). The middle segment came back to reality, but still had good moments and teams. The last segment was all over the place, some good mixed in with embarrassing. Cal took us to some extreme highs, but also some extreme lows.

I was ready for Cal to leave the last 5 years he was here. I voted 9-10 years because he thought he was bigger than the program and that did not suit well with me.

Cal in the Rafters, NO way. Cal admitted time and time again that the best night for UK was draft night. He didn't play to win games; he played to showcase his players to the NBA. He didn't play the best combo of players to showcase one or two players to the League. The guy overprotected players with injuries to the point it hurt the team, and on any other team, those injuries would have kept guys off the floor for a few games at best. This was also to protect them for the league. I never liked his BS attitude toward the fans and saw it from day one, not just at the end when he called us basketball beanies or whatever it was. Cal loved Cal and the persona of getting guys to the NBA... He loves to tell people that he has x number of players making 800 billion dollars. I don't even think he really even prepared those guys for the next level. My last point, and then I'll take a breath, he let wayyyyy too many guys into the league that were no more prepared for the bright lights than you or I are when they could have benefited themselves and Kentucky had they stayed. They can hang a banner for him in the NBA. If you wanna hang him in Rupp, that's ok, just not on a banner.

Caught my breath... had there been 3... as in (three) more minutes in the 2012 title game, he was fixin to give ole hair piece and Kansas another Natty just like he did in 08. The Phog would be spending the summer rewatching their three natties since our last one in 98, two of which would have come at the expense of Cal's stall ball.

Cal should be honored soon after he retires. I don’t expect a long relationship for him at Arkansas. Give the man some belated appreciation and let him spend his last days back in the BBN’s good graces. If Pitino can make it back with this fanbase, anyone can.

Damn the 4 Final Four appearances and a National Title!

                        What a take...

Gonna say 5-6 years, assuming he retires in that timeframe. I don't think it happens while he's still at Arkansas. Could be in 7 years though if/when they bring the 2012 team back for a 20th anniversary reunion.

It's not really damn the final 4's, but my aunt fanny (98 years old) could have gotten to the final fours with those teams, and just maybe further. She would have played a zone if the situation called for it. And I'm pretty damn sure she knows how to defend against one. Ole triple C's couldn't do either.

I get that but that 9-16 season sticks out like a sore thumb and so does St Peters and Oakland. Those 3 seasons in his last 5 really make his first 10 seem in such the distance. The 9-16 is the worst record in program history ( that's pretty historic for all the wrong reasons) that's talking a school like UK. He actually should've been fired after that!!!!!!
