What I've read on here sometimes is simply that Cal has lost his touch and has had to dip in to the portal more than he should be doing. Not that the portal is inherently bad or that the players in there are bums, which is what this guy was saying.

I notice it more when our players are transferring out...

We love picking up players in the portal, we criticize players who want to leave.

I think Kentucky fans mostly criticize Cal for that.

And at Kentucky it's not just the portal, it's one-and-dones on top of the portal. So you've got a double whammy.

I do think that whoever comes to Kentucky is going to have turnover, so that's a thing that will exist when Cal is long gone. It's just the state of things in college basketball. The portal was a problem before COVID and the COVID rule put it on 'roids.

Not sure about Nelson. He made a huge jump this past year but had been pretty pedestrian in his first two seasons there.

Also only played against two high majors all season last year. (And did well: averaged about 14 and 7 against Kansas and Arkansas.)

I'm not against him coming certainly but he is a risk.
