A new team is usually beginning to gel in January, so I wonder how a new guy would affect the already in place team. Attitudes can go sour in a hurry.

Any early word on how Cal's Monday meeting with Bona on the West Coast went?
While I'd be very disappointed if we don't reel him in, it wouldn't be the end of the world because there would surely be several strong candidates entering the transfer portal.

Things are looking better. Which is why I adjusted my Outlook yesterday. David Sisk and Graf reported the visit went very well and Bona is hearing what he wants to hear from Cal about how he will be used. Also, UCLA may not be following up with a visit of their own. Bona threw out the idea of wanting to visit both for a game to get a feel for the atmosphere, but Cal apparently wasn't to keen on that, for whatever reason. So, unless that happens you may get a decision in a week or so. Honestly, I'd put UK as a slight favorite at this point. Just judging by the tone of Sisk's comments.

Again, if that anecdote is true. And it might be true but there might be some missing context. Always hard to read these situations from the outside, and I've noticed what the experts at these subscription sites do is they embellish a bit. Sometimes more than a bit.

Sisk is pretty straightforward and to the point and doesn't beat around the bush, so I trust what he says as being genuine maybe more than anyone. He said that info came from someone close to Bona yesterday.

Pilgrim says that as of now, according to the main source of Sharpe's recruitment, the plan is still for Sharpe to enroll in December and to sit out the spring semester and play the entire 22-23 season.

Sharpe uncertainty could potentially effect Bona decision. Some guys wanna know who they’ll be playing with. Others may not care.

My opinion is if Sharpe plays this season and is as advertised, he enters the 2022 draft. If he doesn’t play this season he stays at UK for one season.

^ I think so, too, JFCats22. Hopefully we either magically retain a couple of players and/or a good addition becomes available by means of transfer, albeit the immediate eligibility probably won't happen again. The COVID rule and subsequently the portal probably saved this season.

The one-time transfer rule is permanent. Athletes transferring for the first time will have immediate eligibility as long as they do so by the deadlines. If UK misses on Bona Cal will definitely fill in any holes in the roster with transfers once again and going forward.

Today is the day for Adem Bona. He announces at 10:30 Eastern.

Weird time for that announcement but regardless, most still think he picks UCLA.
