If Barnhart does then he should be fired too.

Something is going on because with all the transfers, nothing is happening on our front at UK. With the state of things, there should be.

Seeing the coach's team lose games while taking potshots at the fans sours you on a guy.

I've been more or less indifferent to the guy since about 2018, though I have just now been brought around to believing that he could leave and we'd be fine.

I don't think Cal is leaving and don't want him to.

But, those that think it would be no big deal that UK fans ran off a HOF coach that accomplished all Cal has and we would just hire Brad Stevens or some other huge name are idiots. UK would be a laughing stock and, IMO, no legitimate, big name coach would touch the UK job. UK fans (at least those on message boards) have lost their freaking minds about Cal the past few months and it's baffling to me.

IU is nowhere near UK's level but is still IU basketball and they were told no by 10+ coaches and had to settle for a laughably terrible hire. They paid $10 million for a guy to go away and had unlimited money to throw at a big name coach and they all said "no thanks".

UK fans better be REAL careful what they wish for, it's not going to turn out well if Cal leaves.

This assumes that Calipari can "right the ship" and get us back to competing for FF's with a shot for the championship.

If he can't, then we're wasting money on a guy who seems to be past his prime.

                This.

Kentucky would eventually figure it out (we won't resort to IU levels of haplessness), but the curve would be painful.

                  100% agree.

Does anyone think that Duke's fanbase is calling for Coach K's head because he didn't have a top 25 team and didn't make the tournament?

I know there has been some disappointments but everyone wishing him gone better be ready for a real rough stretch for who knows how long.

And again, this season was woefully terrible. There's no debating that.

But just one season ago, we won the SEC by four games and were heading into the tourney as one of the hottest teams in America.

And the season before that, we missed the Final Four by a single basket in OT.

There is reason to believe that Cal doesn't have the same drive and fire that he had earlier in his stint at UK, and the trends aren't moving in the right direction, but I'm willing to see what the next season brings before I jump to any rash judgments.

Aren't you the guy on here after every loss comparing Cal to Tubby Smith?

I agree, but I think he's deserved the chance to come back and right the ship. If he doesn't then that is a whole other conversation after next season.

Additionally, there will be a painful curve whenever Cal's time is finished simply because of how he builds his rosters. The painful curve...has been happening even with him here, as we saw this season. We literally returned Keion Brooks and Dontaie Allen this past year.

                          2 guys.

So we all can buckle up for that. It will take some time and recruiting the right mix of players to bring stability back to this thing. It will require the right hire, and we very well may miss on that person the first time around.

The university has shown, however, that they will pay handsomely for success and money still talks.

This is where I think the growing transfer market will help us. As long as we get a good name, that guy should be able to step in, maybe bring some worthy players with him, and attract others who are looking for a new home. We could theoretically have an experienced team of upper-classmen in the new coach’s first season.

I would love to know who people think a) is an upgrade over or equal to Cal and b) would actually consider taking the UK job if Cal left for Texas (or anywhere else) this offseason.

I cannot come up with anyone who fits both criteria. If you can, I would love to hear who that coach is.

I don’t think anyone is under either delusion, Crazzed. We’ve all expressed those very concerns as nauseam right here on this board. You’ve been a part of many of those conversations.
