Yeah I want ALL of those! Goodness—can’t even imagine who was the last one. Scotty Something that went to UT under Pearl? Unless you count Bassey who wasn’t exactly a Kentuckian. I’m sure I’m forgetting more than one but we don’t produce many.

Oh yeah! He didn’t burn us quite like Houston and Lofton though. Wasn’t exactly a flop but didn’t quite live up to expectations either

Houston was going with his dad. Lofton caught a lot of folks by surprise . Kentucky got Miller instead of Hopson. I think we got the best of that. Scotty Hopson was almost uncoachable in High school. Practiced if he wanted....if he didnt he just didnt go. Lotta talent, but....

Kentucky doesn't produce many 5 stars for sure. Many good player, but not much size or great athletes. I'm not sure Griffith would have been a 5 star. Some that would have been, Unseld, Mike Redd, Mike Casey.

              Was Hood a 4 or 5 star? I can't remember.

I remember well Lighthouse trying to politely calm expectations for Jon Hood.

My bad. It was just one spot: https://kentuckysportsradio.com/main...leonard-in-hs/

Kawhi wasn’t quite as inferior to Hood as I thought.

Amazing how some players progress and how so many talent analysts can miss on a player. I bet if you looked at the top 25 players in the league, you'd be surprised at what some of their HS rankings were. Shows that being on the right summer programs and having the right sponsors behind you can make a huge difference in your rankings at that level.

Damian Lillard #214 in the class of 2008
Steph Curry #256 in the class of 2006
Jimmy Butler Not ranked in the class off 2008
Paul George Not ranked in the class of 2008

It's interesting to look back at some of those rankings and not even be able to recognize a lot of the top ten recruits from each year.

Yeah, every now and then I go to 247 and scroll through the last few years’ worth of classes just to see how many names stand out today.

We talk all the time about how much you have to have top talent, but so much of that top never makes it to the NBA.
