Mintz isn't elite either, but is a very good role payer. He won't cut it if he's what we're counting on, though I'd LOVE to have him back.
To build a championship level college team, you need three stars (at least) and four (at least) solid as hell role players behind them. It also really helps if at least two of those stars play guard; guards control the college game, so your best players have to control the basketball.
All things even and forgetting his age, Skyy Clark is a star. End stop. That's one. I think Oscar Tshiebwe could be a star if the conditions are right. Possibly two. Then it gets dicey and we'll probably have to figure out something in the transfer market assuming Jaden Hardy is indeed not coming.
I don't expect a repeat of what happened this year. This team was historically bad, but they were also historically broken. Something was messed up on the inside.
But just because we improve doesn't mean we can improve to where we're happy. There are a lot of questions Cal has to answer with the roster and he doesn't have a ton of time. It really looks like the team is going to have to be built mostly on the backs of transfers, and that's way risky.Comment

Mintz, Clark, Hickman, Allen, and Powell and/or Fredrick is enough to get it done in the backcourt IMO. I'm not even counting on Askew and any improvement he may make.
*Add Brandin Podziemski into that mix as well. Keep forgetting about himLast edited by lilproUK98; 03-16-2021, 11:27 PM.Comment

Hope so. He's got some real potential and isn't afraid to fight. He missed some fts in the last game, which was odd for him, but he's the kind of big that can stay and really contribute in a back up role for a couple yrs, and maybe start his final yr👍 1Comment

I agree, the HS games and highlights I've seen, he's inconsistent in high school game! Lets not get wrapped up putting all are eggs in one basket like this seasons expectations with this "classified elite group".
