He will be 18 in July so he isn't Michael Kidd-Gilchrist young, but you'd rather get him as a 19-year-old. I don't think Kentucky is going to have that luxury however because we obviously need elite talent ASAP.
Unless there's a great lead guard transfer out there, we need Clark or Mintz on next year's team. Hickman is good, but not enough at lead guard IMO.

Mintz isn't elite either, but is a very good role payer. He won't cut it if he's what we're counting on, though I'd LOVE to have him back.

To build a championship level college team, you need three stars (at least) and four (at least) solid as hell role players behind them. It also really helps if at least two of those stars play guard; guards control the college game, so your best players have to control the basketball.

All things even and forgetting his age, Skyy Clark is a star. End stop. That's one. I think Oscar Tshiebwe could be a star if the conditions are right. Possibly two. Then it gets dicey and we'll probably have to figure out something in the transfer market assuming Jaden Hardy is indeed not coming.

I don't expect a repeat of what happened this year. This team was historically bad, but they were also historically broken. Something was messed up on the inside.

But just because we improve doesn't mean we can improve to where we're happy. There are a lot of questions Cal has to answer with the roster and he doesn't have a ton of time. It really looks like the team is going to have to be built mostly on the backs of transfers, and that's way risky.

I think Mintz can be much better than we've had at lead guard since SGA. He averaged 17 points 5 assists to just 1 turnover, shot 48% from 3 over the last 6 games. Now, if you have Clark, Mintz, and Hickman available to run the team, that's enough.

Mintz, Clark, Hickman, Allen, and Powell and/or Fredrick is enough to get it done in the backcourt IMO. I'm not even counting on Askew and any improvement he may make.

*Add Brandin Podziemski into that mix as well. Keep forgetting about him

Word is that Lance Ware has confirmed he'll return.

Hope so. He's got some real potential and isn't afraid to fight. He missed some fts in the last game, which was odd for him, but he's the kind of big that can stay and really contribute in a back up role for a couple yrs, and maybe start his final yr

Justin is probably correct here. Things will be fluid for months.

I like Ware. Plays hard. But he has no idea how to play the game yet. As raw an offensive player as I've seen in the Cal era.

Also, I keep forgetting about Brandin Podziemski from Wisconsin.... He could be in the mix. Probably between UK and Illinois

I agree, the HS games and highlights I've seen, he's inconsistent in high school game! Lets not get wrapped up putting all are eggs in one basket like this seasons expectations with this "classified elite group".

P.S. Just want emphasize I appreciate all of you that post Tweets since I don't have Twitter.

He's a Mickey D's AA for a reason. Only saw him play one time a few weeks ago on ESPN. I would've took his game right then over what we had at PG this season. That's no slouch towards Askew, either. He couldn't help it. This reclassifying stuff has got to stop. Askew looked like a HS kid and for good reason.
