I think Cal is here until 2025 at a minimum, simply because his contract says he is owed $1 million/year for life at that point, so unless someone is gonna give him ~$20 million at age 65, it's hard to see him voluntarily giving that up (and he ain't getting fired).Comment

I’m all for Cal righting the ship and retiring on a high note, but my Lord, the lunacy of that contract continues to blow my mind.I think Cal is here until 2025 at a minimum, simply because his contract says he is owed $1 million/year for life at that point, so unless someone is gonna give him ~$20 million at age 65, it's hard to see him voluntarily giving that up (and he ain't getting fired).Comment

If he doesn’t go pro, he’s heading to Michigan State.
In other news, Knoxville outlets are reporting that Barnes had an “hour-long†talk with Powell’s dad. They’re intrigued by the idea of Powell playing with Kessler at UT.
Right now Gonzaga is getting all the buzz for Kessler, so if UK isn’t going to get him but we still want Powell (which we do), we should hope Gonzaga gets the big man.
Or, ya know, Cal could’ve just accepted Powell’s commitment a week or two ago when he was ready to pull the trigger instead of asking him to hold off for whatever dumb reason is going through his head this time.Comment

Assuming that's true.
I wouldn't be surprised with anything at this point when it comes to Cal. I think Cal, like a lot of guys with huge egos (particularly those who are in danger of the game suddenly passing them by), thinks he can pretty much get anybody and often jumps over the line into dangerous arrogance. Which has burned us here recently.
But that he would just tell Powell to wait because "big things are going to happen" or whatever sounds like Message Board Guy stuff to me.Comment

Reminded me of Brandan Wright's recruitment.
Both Wright and Thompson went to UNC, where Roy was still young and hungry.Comment

It was confirmed by a couple of people with sources close to the program. I mean, I can’t say for sure that Cal said it himself, but the story has (or had) legs.
