Will. This is the first have heard about white supremacist so yes it does surprise me. I am in some political forums and haven't heard it there.

I don’t disagree but then again, we’re not black. I just know from my relatives that they viewed last week through a *much* different lens than we would.

I’m not saying that’s right. I’m just pointing out what I’ve heard as the reason behind it.

What I think might be interesting is for Cal to bring in a group of veterans to speak to the players...black veterans. That perspective is one you don’t hear from a lot and it might be useful for these young men to hear it.

If the American flag represents our nation, and our nation has been transformed into something the players (and millions of other Americans) don't condone or subscribe to, then it's this version of our society that they protest -- not the flag, itself. It's as if to say, "No, we are not okay with you waving that flag over this distorted version of America," which perhaps is why so many people choose to protest during the National Anthem while the flag waves above.

Same goes for Hendrix's Woodstock rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." He subverted it in order to make a statement about how he and (again) millions of other Americans felt about the state of our nation at that time.

Doesn’t mean that’s legitimately how they are. These guys see themselves as “patriots” too. From the outside I see them as weirdos who cosplay.

There are leftist groups who are just as, probably more, crazy. As compassionate people in the world we need to be better than fools who like to play dress-up.

I don’t know you, but you’re missing the point. He seemed to be referring to specific groups of people, not just any ol’ American who considers themself a patriot.

I think there are a lot of people who are good people who are in groups. They are patriots. Until we know them as you don't know me it's unfair to mention them with the KKK.
