I think the capitol rampage lay bare how stark the divide is between white and black America.
    This. All this.

As I said in another thread. Protesting is your right just do it other than during our National Anthem.

I wish these kids could find a different medium to protest with. Your comment underscores the delima now underscoring our society, 2 groups convinced they are right and neither with any interest whatsoever ever to understand or care what the other thinks.

Still after last week, maybe everyone needs to take a knee... then while we are at it drop the other knee and stay there a while.
And do so on a regular basis because the second knee is the most important.

If they silently protested at another time, convenient to other people's feelings, the impact would be dulled. Or nobody would even notice.

This raises a dialogue one way or the other.

I just wish, like Spirit said, that they had a more definite reason for doing it. As it stands, it seems more like a follow the leader type of thing more than any real protest.

This thread shows why WCN has always been a special place for UK fans. It’s nice to read through some well reasoned, civil discussion on what has become basically a topic of polarity without buffer which now has been addressed by our men’s basketball team.

You guys have always represented the best of the BBN. Thank you.

I have always been of the mind that if you try to delete all the things from your life that you disagree with that you would be one miserable person. Certain things provide me a service. Kentucky sports provide me entertainment. I just don't think about anything except what's on the field/court. Entertain me.

I watch to be entertained too but it’s always good if the players aren’t mindless automatons and we get glimpses, now and then, into their inner lives.

The only problem I ever have is if they break the law. We’ve had players who were very conservative in the past. I recall Jeff Sheppard and Cameron Mills, with their Bible verse t-shirts. I don’t get that kind of thing but it’s still interesting. It shows you the players are human beings.

I'd be ok with that... not because of the protest, but to save the state money since it means more to the state than it would to UK. State dollars make up a surprisingly small percentage of UK's budget. Athletics wouldn't miss a beat.

Every Christmas my daughter sends out a card with a collage of pictures. This year, one of those pictures was of her, my SIL, and two grandchildren(8 and 12) taking part in a peaceful protest in Seattle against racial discrimination. They were all wearing masks. I'm thrilled that my grandchildren got experience in saying "enough is enough". I hope it helps them in the future.

So they can protest, just not when it hurts your feelings?

                            Got it.

I love the "I'm never watching again" losers. Yeah right. If UK is in the NCAA Final Four they will absolutely be watching.

It won't take a final four. They'll be watching tonight.
