Most turnovers in a season for a player at Kentucky is 170, Hagan's is on pace for 145. I have a feeling that at the end of this Hagan's will be pushed out the door to the NBA regardless, not sure Cal wants to deal with this again....

Evansville game sucked, it was a fluke, it happened but that was just a perfect storm in a young early season. The NCAA can tax us and send us wherever whatever seed but if we are playing ball the way we are capable, hell make us a 16 seed, still gotta win 6 in a row....

Kentucky is winning by an average of 9.2 points a game, which is 22nd in the nation. They get double digit leads in most every game but don't extend those leads well. I blame some of this on Calipari, who is I think trying to slow the game down more than he usually does because he's convinced this team (a) turns the ball over too much and is thus dangerous with leads, and (b) shoots free throws at a historic clip, so it's really hard to beat them in close games.

For the sake of reference, last year's team won by an average of 11 points a game, 17th in the nation.

        The last six champions:

        Virginia '19: 15 points a game
        Villanova '18: 16 points a game
        North Carolina '17: 13 points a game
        Villanova '16: 14 points a game
        Duke '15: 15 points a game
        Connecticut '14: 9 points a game

I agree with this post, especially Cal's part in why we lose big leads. I cringed last night when he started the grind. If he's afraid this team is dangerous with leads, maybe he should look at how they got those leads. By running the offense and attacking the rim and getting the ball to an open shooter.

I thought we did a very good job against their press. We obviously worked on how to inbound and move the ball. It wasn't the best press we'll see, but I was glad to see improvement.

As for our seeding by the committee. No matter where they put us, the Evansville loss will be the reason more so than all out road wins.

This is why you worry about Evansville. It was a game that settled in a lot of people's minds.

Not that I think it'll matter much. Nobody should worry about seed too much this season. The only thing that would be outrageous is if we're clearly a 2/3 but they put us in that 4 slot to set up a marquee game with Kansas in the second round.
I think UK will definitely be the 4 in KU's bracket if the NCAA can do it. That is a matchup that is not good for UK and one I want to avoid.

It's also why it's really important for UK to at least get to a 3 seed. Win Saturday and I think the Cats lock up a 3 seed. Lose and it probably takes beating UT plus winning the SECT to get to a 3.

Cal calls too many plays in from the sideline IMO.

It looks like he scripts virtually everything. Of course you'd have to make the case that that may be part of the reason our winning percentage is so high. But one does have to wonder if it's not a major reason we get these double-digit leads so often and then have to fight to the finish line.

I called our plays from the bench when I coached. When I didn't, all we got was a lot of one on one stuff.

                I think that's what he's worried about.

I do think Cal overcoaches at times. (He also screams and wails and basically interjects himself in the game in a way that I think is at times a little over the top.) That works to our advantage probably 80% of the time with these young teams. The other 20% things can get a little sketchy. And I do think we've lost some games because of it. Not a lot, but it has happened.

Making it to Sunday in the SEC tournament. As we've learned ad nauseam, winning the SEC tournament has zero impact on seeding.

Yeah, I know....may be wishful thinking that one year it will actually make a difference.

Of course making it and losing the game would probably cost us a seed line or two.

I dont want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but they make it easy.

With the way the NCAA has treated Kentucky in the past, along with the more than obvious way they cater to Duke and UNC, they make it very easy to question the fairness.
