And the so called no show SESTINA, the guy that everyone on FACEBOOK and social medial hates and wants him kicked off the team, actually had the big block that changed the momentum of that game. As i try to explain to others on other sites who are always calling him trash and wanting him kicked off the team, you better be **** glad he came here because no one else wanted too and Cal missed on a number or recruits, appreciate and support what you got!!!!!!!!!

On the bright side and the good news, season will be over sooner than later before you know it so we won't have to worry about it much longer, 6 to 7 more weeks maybe sooner this thing is over...

Speaking of Sestina, I'd like to see both him and Brooks become consistent parts of the rotation.

As it is, we get Good Sestina, then he steps back. Then we get Good Brooks, then he comes out and puts up a dud. Then it switches back around again.

Richards and Quickley have really been the only two guys we can count on to go out and really get their numbers. If you could somehow get them all on the same page I think we'd have a pretty nice team.

in defense of Sestina, I think we were kinda wanting a Reid Travis plus....but Sestina was a Bucknell grad, not a guy that was a west coast poy guy.

I also think that there were a lot of folks around believing Sestina would be just a five, ten minute most guy that would come in to spell Blackshear.
When I DO watch, I think Sestina gives it all he has....he just simply doesnt have as much as most every other athlete on the floor.

I also still think we have to get something more from the bench than we did last night. I don't think you can only have 4 guys (I still don't count EJ yet) contribute and expect to win many games.
Unfortunately, I think what we saw from the bench (and EJ) last night is what were going to get going forward. Sestina might have a game in March where hes on fire from three, ala Ohio State, but there will be more games that he cant even play in.

This team will go as far as our three guards and Richards takes us. Which, considering the strength of the rest of the field, isn't the worst thing in the world.

We are pretty much like every other top tier team in America this year: thin, severely flawed, but also very capable.

Right, but he sometimes does. Occasionally he plays at a very high level. But only very occasionally.

I understand he's not Reid Travis, but more than talent/skill level I see an issue with consistency.

It's a teamwide problem. They show up one game and then fade back the next. This is why you see these erratic halves that don't seem to fit together.

I really like some things Kentucky does though. I compared them to the Ulis/Murray team a couple of weeks ago, but that team had no inside game. This team is way more balanced, even though we're not as powerful at the guard position and these guys don't shoot the ball as well.

But when you have that balance it's harder for other teams to take parts of the game away from you. I see that as a decent sign for UK in March.

One thing the second half proved last night: this team needs to push it. Run, run, run. Cal obviously wants this team to be something its not.

Here's my thoughts on our team. they are as unpredictable as any team I can remember. One game/half together they seem to forget anything about how to win. They play very lazy and to an extent, uninterested. Then they show up and play a game/half like they suddenly remember that hustle, focus and intensity pays off. There is inconsistency with every player we have, maybe with the exception of Quickley, and when we get the Best out of Richards, Maxey, Hagans, Quickley and Montgomery, we can beat anybody. And if that ever happens, look out. As for our bench, Juzang is a shooter and I liked it last night when he shot the long one. A shooter who shoots without fear will help a team. Brooks is every bit as athletic as any player we have and he plays as hard as anybody. When/if he figures out how to play at this level, he would be an awesome player for us. As for Sestina. He is smart and strong and gives us his very best every time he's on the court. But, he's slow and has no hops so when he's asked to guard a quick athletic player, he will break down every time. He can shoot and will help us in spots, but I don't think we can count on him against good teams.

Inconsistency has been mentioned as a major problem with this team and I agree 100%. So what is the answer to cure this problem?

I think what you're seeing there are talent and skill issues.

This is one of the least skilled teams Cal has had.

But they aren't completely unskilled, so that's why you see these little flashes of brilliance.

Unlike Lighthouse, I don't really think they play uninterested. I just don't think this particular Kentucky team has exceptionally good players who can put entire 40-minute games together.

They can put 25-minute games together. The best-case scenario for UK is that we have three or four players who do that at the same time and it's enough to help us make a March push.

Well....end of the day, it's a good win at a super tough place....ask LSU. For some reason, Vanderbilt has always been a tough out for Kentucky...almost every game (in my lifetime) usually is a struggle.
I think the kids are pulling it together....whether it turns into a big run or not is anybody's guess.
                          kinda neat to see.

Win or lose, this team plays without fear, i like that. Hagans usually starts off trying to do to much but that smile he gives once the tide turns is simply put "Killing you with kindness", same for Maxey lol lol lol lol

It is and I love it. Hagans and Quickley especially have a way of getting into guys' heads.

They are both gamers. I give Hagans credit, he slowly sticks the knife in your back as the game goes on and seems to play through his mistakes mentally. He still scares me at times trying to do to much (pull up 3's showcasing for the NBA) but at least he has slowly became a better shooter from behind the arc. If the refs will ever give him a break on defense and stop calling cheap fouls, i think he will be good, he always gets caught in the a bad position trying to make a basketball play that results in a cheap foul...
