If the refs will ever give him a break on defense and stop calling cheap fouls, i think he will be good, he always gets caught in the a bad position trying to make a basketball play that results in a cheap foul...

Fighting through screens trying to get the steal will be called every single time. As it should. Hagans does that a lot.

He jumps dribble hand-offs better than anyone I've ever seen.

Unfortunately he slaps downward on those, and when you do that you're going to get arm as much as you get ball. But it's a net positive for Kentucky because he makes it really hard for teams to get into their sets.

As a team Kentucky is mediocre defensively, but I think they're dinged in these analytical metrics (Pomeroy) in part because they're a team that gambles defensively more than Cal's teams generally do. Pomeroy rewards teams that play staid, staunch, straight-up defense. Ironically Cal's teams almost always play like that. This one's a bit different.

I can live with the occasional foul, it's worth the gamble for all the turnovers Hagans forces. Would like to seem him keep his elbow tucked in on those screens.
