OSU/UK in Vegas game thread

I criticize Cal and want him to make some pretty big changes but thinking UK could do better than what Cal has done/will do is pretty silly.

WHO??? Who would you want that you believe is so much better all around than Cal???? I complain, belly-ache, get PO'ed and yell at the TV like anyone but there is no way I want Cal gone. There's not a coach out there that I would want other than maybe Brad Stevens. Although I have to admit - Cronin is doing a great job at UL with what he came into but I don't think he's anything overly special or that much better than Cal.

As people has stated - this is the best decade that I can recall ever in UK basketball... KC stated some great points. I love the culture he's brought. I love the number of UK players that are in the NBA and having success. I love that kids want to come to UK and try to get to the NBA... That's the whole point of college isn't it? It's to get kids prepared for their profession. However - sure I wished he would sometimes do some things different in games offensively and defensively as well as recruiting. I don't want him recruiting lesser talent. I want him recruiting more talent, more needs. I love this Freshman from Oak Hill that ended up going to Illinois of all schools (Kofi ****************burn). He's 7' and 290lbs. He's was ranked 46 in the nation. Guy is a load and is averaging 15pts a game. UK didn't even look at him? How can you not - you came into the year with Richards and EJ. You play in a physical SEC conference. This guy would have been a great addition. But instead - there are 5 or 6 small white guys on the end of the bench that will never play. That to me is all on Cal and is totally unacceptable. Little things like that is what needs to change.

My two cents worth is accept things the way they are and forget about Cal making changes. He seems pretty inflexible to me. I don't expect any major changes from him.

I certainly do not want Cal to leave.....he is good for UK basketball ...he is good for this state......but I am very frustrated this season but will not give up on this team

As some of you know I'm considered a "newbie BBN fam" (I came in with Cal, 11 seasons), but I'm reading the OGs valid complaints in this thread and all I can say is hold on 2022/2023 will be here soon enough and you will get your wish. Most, if not all, one-and-dones will not attend the blue blood programs or well known basketball schools and college basketball will get back to developing players that will stick around at least 3 years.

As most knowledgeable basketball people know, rebounding has a lot to do with wanting to rebound the ball. Nick has never really shown that desire.

Oh My! That's absolutely unacceptable....even if it was the stat for just one of them. (And we were worried that EJ would go pro...HAH!)

I think you quoted the wrong poster. JFCats22 wasn't asking for Cal to leave or retire, that was Jload. I agree Cal needs to make some changes, especially begin to pay some attention to kids who are not only shooters, but those who hit shots, and Big Strong inside players. I sure don't want Cal to leave because he is good for our program. One thing I wonder some times. Would Cal be as good of a coach if he had 4 year players instead of one and done's?

And to me, that will be when college basketball will be as bad as this year or more so... All of the great talent that we are at least getting to watch and cheer for will bypass college and most will go and get lost in the G league.

I've been watching some older UK games on YouTube lately and watching some of Pitino teams. What excitement those teams brought to the game. They were pressing their tails off with guys that have no where near the athletic ability that Cal's team has. Dent was the lead - Richards isn't good but he is long and fast. They were pressing with Prickett, Ford, and Brassow - those guys were not even close to the athletes you got today... I would love to see Cal take this team for a game or two and just press the hell out of someone. It will never happen but would be fun to see if they could do it. They give up easy shots now so a few easy ones while pressing wouldn't be any different.

I won't go into the status of the crowd. Rupp needs a massive makeover.

First, as far as I can see, you are alone on this site so why bring it up? Second, what does Cal have for incentive? He has a HUGE dislike for losing games!

For all thos who like Cal dislike Cal whatever it may be,keep in mind this site this group is just a small drop in the bucket. In the real world, people getting sick and tired of John Calipari here at Kentucky, the thrill is gone and this marriage has ran its course, people just not watching and enthused by all of this anymore myself included, I read about it every day. You think I will give up 2 hours of my valuable time to watch Junk basketball or a coach who refuses to coach or adjust? I will watch the Louisville game then I am out, call it what you want fair weather fan i don't care, i ain't watching this garbage anymore...
