One of the most disappointing ass whippings I have seen. If its going to happen this is the right time. Only positive i take from this debacle. Duke is not this good and Kentucky is not this bad!

Worse UK loss under Cal. Good thing this happenee now. As it stands this is a terrible defensive team and the offense is just as bad. I am just stunned. The team looked like they aren't even coached. But guess what? A few of these guys will go pro! Blah blah! I don't care about that stuff.

Agreed.

But.

Even Kentucky's uneven teams would fight. The team last year would fight. My wife and I went to the Champions Classic in the Harrow/Archie Goodwin year and watched them play Duke. Yeah, they were outmatched, but they battled.

That team last night was just shell shocked. And there were a bunch of players out there for UK who had been in big games.

I agree that you can't write off the season but what happened last night was jaw-dropping.

I didn't see any of the game as it was way too late for me. I'm glad I didn't. Sounds like the Duke freshmen are fro real and the UK freshmen may be vastly overrated, at least for now. Really no excuse for getting beta that bad. I think it shows on these guys that they just may not be tough enough to compete at a high level right now. Maybe it will come in time but Cal has his work cut out for him. From what I have read and saw front he stats is that the so called "veterans" except for Travis were basically no shows. That has to be very disturbing to Cal. Cal was wanting Green to be a leader but if can't compete at a high level against everyone then being a leader is impossible.
Oh well you never know what you are going to get when you have a team full of freshmen. You hope they can be competitors but sometimes they aren't. It's going to be very difficult for Cal to get this team to get over being bombed like this. We really won't know either for a while as the next decent team they will face won't be until December 8th and I'm not even sure about that one. But right now they need a whole box full of cupcakes to try and get some confidence back. I'm not sure they can after a whooping like last night.

I'm pretty sure the 118 points is the most given up by UK since the Kansas massacre in Pitino's first season when the Jayhawks hung 150 on them. A good guess is that 118 is the 2nd most points given up by UK in their history.

They took Zion and Barrett out with a few minutes to go. They also went to stall ball with more than 5:00 to go.

Could have easily scored 145 or so if they would've wanted to.

I'm not even gonna argue with this point.

I will just say that I'm going to reserve judgment for the next big marquee game on the schedule.

Sometimes you just get caught in a torpedo -- and that was a torpedo. Our guys just weren't ready for that stage, and when they got punched in the mouth, they didn't respond.

I'm more disappointed with PJ Washington and Sophomore Nick Richards than anybody. Quade probably didn't belong on the floor with those guys.

Duke's freshmen played like seniors...our freshmen played like freshmen......hopefully Cal gets this figured out......I will be in Rupp Friday night cheering them on

Cal did not want to peak too early. He does not have to worry about that. He has tons of work to do with this team. I am heading to bed. 5 am will be here shortly. lol

I wouldn't do that.

Watching them grow is part of the fun.

You see a guy struggle, struggle, battle, and then finally get it...that's part of the process of growing up.

These are 18- and 19-year-olds for the most part. We're watching college kids, not pros, as much as Cal wants this to be sort of a semi-pro operation. Easy to lose sight of that.

Watching somebody just struggle mightily and then come out and put a big game together is immensely pleasing. I can tick off a bunch of players I never thought would get it and then, somehow, they did. From Jorts to Deandre Liggins to Willie Cauley-Stein to even somebody like Karl Towns, who started out pretty pedestrian and then turned into one of the game's best players by the end of the year.

We all want to win. And if you should win 80% of your games if you're making the money Cal does.

But you can get so much from watching this simply by not freaking out about every struggle and trying to accept that they're going to screw up.
