Just got home and started watching and reading your posts. Sounds like a first game in early August and a team that will probably be better tomorrow night. Exciting time to be a Cat Fan!

Oh, and I noticed the negatives have started already.

Does Reid Travis have 30 rebounds?

Guy can't score but goodness gracious he's around every ball.

And I LOVE Keldon Johnson this half. Ferocious. Has the potential to be a devastating player on the level of our great freshmen. Preternaturally strong for a wing and is going to work some of these hybrid forwards college teams play on the perimeter.

Somebody commented about Cal sitting in the stands. He sat on the top bleacher every game the last time UK played in the Bahamas. The assistants took turns coaching the team.

Been telling everyone on the internet and in person that Herro was a big time baller the second he committed...he certainly looks the part.

Odd thing about that game is how many easy shots Kentucky missed. Around the rim, wide open from three, dunks, lay-ups...just a lot of stuff that will obviously start going down when they start learning where their shots need to come from.

Love that little move from EJ Montgomery late in the game. Impossible to guard. Showed a little Tayshaun Prince there.

If Keldon Johnson gets lay-ups to fall he would've had an unbelievable game. Probably missed 10 easy shots. But he attacks the paint like a man possessed.

                  Here's the box score.

Travis ended up with 14 rebounds. He will be a terror on the glass. He had to be a bit overwhelmed last night. You can hear and read all about Big Blue Nation but until you experience it you really don't know what it is. It had to be a little overwhelming to see a sea of blue at a game that meant absolutely nothing in early August. He never experienced anything like that at Stanford. He will settle in and be fine.

If Richards can be anything like that then this front line will be a beast for any team to handle. You will have four big guys then that should bang people around pretty good every game. Not many college teams can match that.

They may need that inside presence too.Eeee gad the shooting was way off. 2-20 from three point area. They shot foul shots well so that was a good sign. Also no offense much was ran. Most of time you get your best looks from the three area when you run good offense.

Another game tonight at 7 pm on the SEC Network.

They were running basically the building blocks of the DDMO offense that Cal ran at Memphis: start one guy in the corner, "loop" him up and around the ball like you're running the weave, have the point guard flip it to him, then take the other perimeter player and loop him, and then look for the drive. It's basically just a really basic motion offense. Only a handful of times did you see a forward catching the ball at the top of the key: EJ Montgomery two or three times, and PJ Washington that one time where he drove and scored. Getting the ball to our forwards in that spot will be a staple for this team going forward. That will be both Reid Travis's and Washington's spot.

Because the Bahamas was packing it in so tight those drives often weren't there from the guards, so the offense kind of went nowhere all night. A couple of these guys have the potential to be devastating off-the-dribble players, but I don't think they wanted to push the issue. Johnson started to in the second half, but Hagans is another guy who needs to get to the rim a few times tonight. It's another reason we had such trouble finishing: often the Bahamas would have four guys in the paint swiping at shots.

Totally unafraid. That two-dribble pull-up is tough to guard. If he can hit that consistently he will play a lot of minutes for this team.

I don't think staying in front of people is going to be a major issue for him like it is a lot of white kids. He's an athlete.

Here's a preview of the San Lorenzo team they play tonight. Sounds like this one will be tough to win. They are veteran pro team from Argentina. One of their players was a good player at DePaul that played well in the G-League a few years back.

I love that we're playing better teams this time. These guys should come into fall practice in a month ahead of the curve a bit, which is what this is all about. Hopefully we hit a few more of those layups this time.

Also trying not to get too ahead of myself but Nick Richards really looked like a different player. He looked like a guy that could really contribute this year if he keeps up the work.

That was me, and it wasn't a complaint.

Other than the three point bricklaying, loved almost everything I saw.

Expected maybe a little more out of EJ Montgomery, but Herro and Richards made up for it.
