You can withdraw from draft consideration twice, so Hami would be able to test the waters again.

FWIW, Vanderbilt yesterday posted a photo on Instagram of him in his UK uniform with a caption referencing a comeback. He quickly deleted it, but people managed to get a screen grab.

The comeback could just be a reference to his career in general, but it might be a reason for hope if you're a UK fan.

Wouldn't be surprised if Vanderbilt opts for surgery this summer. If he goes that route he's almost guaranteed to return because he'll obviously not be able to work out for NBA teams.

Think there's likely more going on in his foot (or maybe feet) than they've let on.

          I agree.

The whole situation has been weird. I wouldn't say "shady," but definitely mysterious.

Mysterious and weird is the way I look at Vanderbilt's situation. It's odd to me that a kid who really seemed to enjoy playing, is seemingly comfortable with not playing. Did any of us who played sports ever play hurt? Of course we did. Kids today, especially those with possible huge paychecks looming, are totally different than those of us who were playing for the fun and competition only.

This may have been nothing, but I thought his interviews were odd at times, too. Could've just been that he was frustrated, or maybe even a little depressed, but there was a moment or two when he almost seemed to be too coy.

The "71%" thing was borderline antagonistic.

The timing of the injury allowed the team to say he'd likely be back by the 2nd weekend of the tournament at a time when Virginia and Arizona were still in play. If' we played one of those 2 and lost in the 1st weekend they could have pretended he was back to 100% by now and not revealed anything more serious to NBA scouts or anyone else--furthering concerns of his durability. Then of course we won 2 games and JV went from "70%" to "71%" recovered which could very well mean something more serious. I'm a big fan of his and hope for a quick and complete recovery. And yes, I also hope he sticks around in blue.

I'll be glad when this team reveals their intentions. Speculation is terrible.

Personally I like it when they wait a little while to announce. I hate it when guys like Ayton and Young do it instantly. Looks like getting the year over with was all that was on their minds.

I'm not saying that some of the UK guys don't already know. I'm sure they do. But I think it looks better to at least make it appear you were focused on the team you were playing for.

I have had that same thought. It definitely seems there was more than just a sprained ankle going on.

Good point, and I'm not saying they should announce either way until they talk to Family and certainly Cal. I will just be glad when we know and can get an idea what next year will be like.

Two out of 3 mock drafts i looked at today have Diallo in the first round along with Knox and SGA.

On a side not, anyone ready the article on Barker and him at Kentucky next season? When asked about next year, he didn't say yes or no....

None of our players said one way or the other.

I see no reason to be concerned about Baker.

Maybe he is concerned about playing time next season??

You and JWORLD are inventing a narrative based on absolutely nothing. Every single player said the exact same thing after the game. The most likely scenario is that Cal coached the whole team on how to respond to these questions once their tournament run came to an end.

Continue to make something out of nothing if you like, but it's only going to cause undue stress.
