Gabriel may be thinking the same thing. If so, he may opt to play overseas instead of finishing college.

Cal has to find a way to keep in those exact players. This Final Four is filled with them. All Final Fours are filled with them.

I absolutely hate when people start with the "We'll never win another national title..." thing, because it's totally stupid. Kentucky fans are so bad at that BS.

BUT if Cal keeps bleeding people through transfer and with players who are just looking to get out and play overseas, then it's hard to see Kentucky winning again. You can't build any semblance of an upperclass presence. We all know that the freak freshmen have been vital; but so are the Patrick Pattersons, Darius Millers, Willie Cauley-Steins, Derek Willises, Dominique Hawkins of the world. If you can't keep those players then your vet leadership is going to always be sophomores. That won't cut it in this sport.

This offseason could be the most frustrating yet. I am expecting three to leave for sure, with a slight hope Vanderbilt stays. If any more than that leave whether it’s to transfer or play overseas I’ll be disgusted.

I really dream of Gabriel as a senior, really think he can be a crucial cog in the wheel. And although Quade drove me insane a few times this year, especially with that last shot.... he can also become a fantastic veteran college player. SKJ made some amazing strides this year and Washington could be a one man wrecking crew as a sophomore. There was times where he was dominating big men that were bigger and older than him this year and if he can get more consistent, watch out!

Since my early post was deleted i will try again in a nice way. I will ask a question and speculate here when i want whever i want like the other 50,000 post . Unless there is a man crush on Barker that i am not aware of, i just can't understand why he wouldn't answer the question with "i can't wait for next year" instead of leaving the door open to speculate about his future at Kentucky. He's not going pro and unless he is considering moving on to another school, why wouldn't he just give us something to be hopeful about.

Take out those projected in the 1st round of the draft and I see no reason to assume any of the others will leave. Why assume a Wenyen, SKJ or even Diallo (who may be a first rounder since he had a single good tournament game) are leaving before they indicate such? Maybe they are more like Patterson/Miller/Willis than they are like Briscoe/Humphries.

Each player has a unique situation and a decision to make. If they haven't tipped their hand why assume the worst?

I think folks assume some of these players leave because we've had others leave when they shouldn't.

However, we've also had some key players stay. You don't hear that mentioned as much.

You never know what a player wants to do and there may be some behind-the-scenes frustration going on, but Cal seemed to really like this team. I've never heard him say some of the things about teams that he said at the end of the year. Think there was some family pushback, but I think he really liked these players. Hopefully that brings a couple of them back.

Otherwise I remain unconvinced we'll see a bunch go. Because as far as NBA potential, this is one of Cal's weakest teams. Anybody and their mother can see that. We just didn't have many pros in this bunch.

Has Jemarl Baker spoken this year? I haven't heard anything from him one way or the other. Oddly I didn't even see him on the bench until very late in the year.

He's kind of the forgotten man. I'd like to have him back simply because Kentucky needs to shake this reputation as a school that can't keep hardly anyone in school, even non-NBA players, but I'm not if he can play or not. It's going to be very crowded at guard next year and if he's going to get minutes he'll have to bring it.

If he can make shots, there'll be a place for him.

Knox’s father just said it’s not a “foregone conclusion” that his son will leave UK. Family to discuss this weekend.

                      Sure, thanks for the tease.

                        Other quote from Knox, Sr:

“We haven’t made that decision yet,” Kevin Knox Sr. told SEC Country on Monday night. “He really loves his teammates and he made references to: ‘Man, can you imagine if we all came back?’ Him and PJ [Washington] are roommates and they were talking about it with Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]: ‘Can you imagine if we all came back what would happen?’ Man, that would be exciting.

“He was like, ‘Daddy, I really love the coaching from Cal and KP and Tony Barbee and Joel Justus and I love the BBN and I came here because of the stage, and I’ve got to take all that into consideration.’ It’s not just all about going straight to the NBA.

Kevin comes from a family with, to be honest with you, two educated parents who are not in need. We don’t need for Kevin to go out and buy us a house or buy us a car or something. So it’s really for Kevin — if he enjoys Kentucky basketball like he does, you know what? Kevin may want to stay. He gets great grades in school. I was shocked, dude got an ‘A’ in statistics, and I got a ‘B’ in it. Kevin is a very smart guy, and he may want to stay in school. It’s not a foregone conclusion. He really loves Kentucky.

He really was having fun at the end and I don’t know if he wants to let that go. He wanted a national championship.”

Things that make you go, "hmmm..."

The scenario in the above post would be great but how many believe it will happen? Keeping my fingers crossed that it is true.

I don't believe, for a second, it will happen, but suppose it did. What would happen with the verbals we now have?

Cant imagine it would change things for anyone. I guess he and Johnson play the same spot, but if you’re Johnson and you’re thinking logically, then Knox’s presence is a boon to your performance.

Those two attacking from opposite wings would be deadly.

They all say this right after the season ends. Once they step away for a few days and clear their minds they usually go pro. The only way to know for sure if any of their names aren't in the NBA pool by June 11th.
                                Kentucky fan since 1971.
