WHO IS STAYING? (ANSWER: Green, Richards, Washington, Baker)

This is being discussed in one way or another on a couple of threads. Anyway it can be on one thread? I am really interested in what you all have to say. If it means this is too much repetition of other discussions, please delete

They all should test the waters to see where they stand. The NBA opened up that process two or three years ago and there's no good reason not to take advantage of it.

Beyond that, I don't think anybody can say for sure. The deadline is in June, so theoretically you could go all the way into the summer and not know.

Gun to my head I'd say Shai, Knox, and Hami leave.

Shai and Knox are definites, I'd say.

Hami is a wildcard. He absolutely shouldn't - he's not a guy anywhere near ready to go. But he's athletic and quick as all get out and can do amazing things that you can't teach. I'd guess he leaves because that's what happens at Kentucky now. But he just may come back.

Vanderbilt is the other wildcard. With him and Wenyen back, this team has a pretty darn good chance to be good next year if there's some improvement.

I think we lose those three and that's it. Currently I don't think anyone else is listed on mock drafts. I could see PJ sneaking into the top 60 with good workouts. If anyone else leaves it will be to play overseas because their family needs the money. But, I don't think that happens. That gives us a team next year of:

        IQ/Quade
        Herro/Baker
        Johnson/Vanderbilt
        PJ/Wenyen
        Richards/SKJ

I think if Cal believed he was losing a bunch he would have more than three guys signed. It's a similar situation to when we only signed four in the class of Ulis, Booker, Towns, and Lyles. He knew he wasnt going to have a mass exodus so he didn't need a class of six or seven guys. People are acting like Richards is going to transfer and we are losing Gabriel, JV, PJ, Knox, Hami, and SGA to the pros. If there was a chance we were losing seven or eight guys I think Cal would know and would have already addressed it more than he has.

Just don't think you lose seven or eight on a team as uneven as this one.

Last year it was a different story. Good team. 30-something wins. People trying to get out and make money.

This team was rough around the edges to say the least. Scouts don't really like these guys except the top two. Not much pub or press. If guys bail then you're going to see a lot of disappointed guys when it shakes out.

Doesn't mean they won't leave. Just means we don't really have a whole lot on this team in terms of players who are can't-miss pros.

I really hope Quickley is smart with the ball so that IQ becomes a fitting nickname.

Is the rule a player can only test the waters one time still in effect? If so, I would think Hami would be gone if he tried again.

I hope they all test the waters because it gives them an idea what they need to work on to accomplish their goal of playing professionally. Of course, it didn't do much for Diallo.

Diallo after the combine: “I jumped really high. They liked that. I need to keep jumping high!”

He still does. Can't shoot or play defense, but he can jump.

I quit trying to pick who is staying and who is leaving. Every time I think I know I am proven wrong. So I will just wait and see.

So sick of this part of Kentucky basketball. If I guessed I,d say we lose 5 players. It has nothing to do with who’s ready, it’s all about UK being the pipeline to the pros and the EXPECTATION that you go after a year, that’s why EVERY one of them came here in the first place. A coupl,e will leave ready or not because they never intended this to be anything than a temp waystation, and besides if you stay and buck .the trend then you risk injury and falling further. The stinking NBA draft is all about potential and perception and very little to do with performance and these kids know it

I don't think any of our players are NBA ready.
saying that, I expect Diallo, Vanderbilt, Knox, SGA and Gabriel to be gone.

that would be like a graduating senior class a few years ago.
counting Winyards apparent aloha, should have six slots for next year.
