We wouldn't be wishing them ill will. Just directing them to more important stages of life.

Man, this political correctness sucks at times.

I root for UK in every game they play in every sport. I'm thereby inheritantly wishing a loss on their opponent in every game. At no point do I hope it ruins anyone's life. I think sports would be no fun without rivalries. Sports should be fun for the participants and entertaining for the fans. I don't think my Savior faults me for "sports hate." Sure hope not.

I don't wish him any ill will - in fact, I like him. That's how sports operate. I don't want any U of L fans to get cancer or anything, and I hope the U of L players have happy and fulfilling lives. I just don't want them to win sports games.
We'll just have to agree to disagree on this. In my opinion, there's no difference in "sports hate" and regular hate. Hate is hate to me, and wishing bad things on people isn't good from my point of view.

I kind of agree with Catsrock's point though.

Aren't you wishing bad things on people simply by rooting for your own team?

I guess when there's a foul by the opponent, they make a bad pass or miss a shot and you're glad for your team it could be interpreted that way.

It’s more basic than that. By rooting for your team, you’re rooting against the opposition by default.

Was impressed with Newman taking over the Duke vs Kansas game.

                  Someone has to lose.

I forget what game I was watching recently, I think it was Loyola. Afterwards the star player told the sideline reporter that the win was just God's plan for him. So...God planned for everyone else to lose?

Only God knows His plan for an individual or for the World, and it's up to us to find it. I don't believe God cares much about who win's a game, but He inhabits our praise.
