    A little more

Not sure. They really need to beat a few good teams. We will see. It is up to them.

You don't know if this is true or not. Just because he's got a low basketball IQ and takes ill-advised shots doesn't mean he's selfish or a bad kid.

Low IQ is one thing. I see the arguing with teammates, coaches. I have been on teams with a player (leader) was this way. Was very bad for the team. Coach benched the player with the issue, player quit team. We won more games.

Ask Bam Adebayo and De'Aaron Fox about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwTW5ptZQik
Not every kid (not from KY) will be this way. Just know that Kids from KY typically live and die UK BBALL. KIDS from out of state love UK but it is not life long. Means more to kids from KY.

I've never understood the whole "gotta have a Kentucky kid" on the roster argument. Who cares?

I CARE. Easy enough. I am not alone on this either. It is sad to see kids from KY that should be here as part of a team are not here.

Just one guys opinion. Nothing more.

The talent around Kentucky has been poor for thirty years when you look at the high D1 talent we produce.

But wherever you recruit I think Cal definitely needs a couple of seasoned old guys. That's news to no one. Those two vets we had last year sure helped that team. Not sure if that was because they were from Kentucky and wanted it more or if they simply improved dramatically in their four years. (Or a mix of both.)

Having seniors is meaningful. Also: having elite NBA ballers is meaningful. Not a whole lot of those in the Commonwealth.

But I heard a story from somebody who would know that Cal pretty much didn't even bother to recruit Taveion Hollingsworth out of Dunbar. They brought him in and gave him a quick tour, Cal showed up for a few minutes, and that was it. His parents weren't happy.

He's averaging about 13 a game for Western and would get minutes on this team. More importantly he's a guy you could count on to help you down the road. If Shai left Hollingsworth could step in and play a bigger role next season.

Cal seems to have wildly missed the mark on how he thought that recruiting class was going to turn out, which may be indicative of what's going on with recruiting overall at UK. Cal may still be in 2011 mode; meanwhile the world has changed around him.

I'm all for Kentucky kids on our team when they're good enough. We had two last season that were wonderful kids and smart players, but it took them 3 years to get there.

Perhaps he missed the mark on a few kids, but he's right more often than not.

What do you mean by 2011 mode?

He could show up in a high school sophomore's living room tonight and seal the deal for an unwavering Kentucky commitment, just because he's Cal.

            Those times have obviously changed.

I believe either of the two 6'7" kids from Trinity could help us simply because they can shoot and they're both very athletic. If Cal doesn't recruit them, UL will and they would be 4 year players.

                    Kentucky is recruiting David Johnson.

The other kid has severe, crippling academic issues and will probably need a JUCO. To me he looks like a high D1 player. Great size. Super athletic. Shoots the ball. I'm blown away every time I've watched him. But I've heard he was flunking out at Central and can't even do the very basic work to get by at Trinity; it's everything they can do to keep him on the court. I don't think he plays D1 basketball out of high school and if he does it's a miracle.

Is Johnson the Senior? I get them mixed up.

                        Johnson's a junior.

                        Jay Scrubb is the senior.

Good. Johnson is a Kentucky kid I hope we get. As for Scrubb, I had no idea about his academic issues. I would imagine he's at Trinity because somebody paid his tuition and they will do everything they can to keep him eligible. And the KHSAA will not do anything to stop HS recruitment, and everybody does it. Some are just better at it.

                              They're dishing it right back.

Honestly, it's not a good look either way. Fans should never tweet players or the coach's family. The coach's family need to let it go and not respond.

Somebody retweeted one of them earlier and she pointed out how weird it was that people try to blast Cal online after losses because Cal doesn't even know how to use a computer. She said she typed one of his books for him in high school while he read what he wanted in there aloud to her, lol.
