    As things stand now, we are close to making it into one of the gang of six bowls, likely Liberty. Most prediction have us not in the gang of six and falling to the Birmingham Bowl. The games this weekend will determine where we end up. Obviously a win over UL would boost out chances. Beyond that, a very close game vs UL will help. Other games that could help include USC/Clemson, UTn/Vandy, and Ole Miss/Miss St. USC is the main other team competing for the last gang of six bowl. We need Clemson to totally destroy USC. Vandy could still make it to 6-6, we need UTn to win this game. Likewise Ole Miss can become bowl eligible if the win the Egg Bowl, need Miss St to win.

    Vandy will likely still make a bowl even if they lose as a 5-7 APR team. There is even a chance Miss St could make it as a 5-7 team if they beat Ole Miss.

          Well, this certainly improves our chances of getting a more attractive bowl -- Tom Leach seems pretty certain we are headed for the Music City Bowl -- but, obviously, it will also mean a tougher opponent. I think it helped us that ole Miss will not be bowl eligible, but by beating UT tonight, Vandy is now bowl eligible.

            There are 11 SEC teams eligible for a bowl (six East division teams and five West division teams).

                    A different way. Preseason I publicly stated I would be disappointed with less than 7 wins this year. I was all set to be disappointed in the season until yesterday at 3:36 ET. I will be in Hattiesburg MS next fall to witness a major beat down.

                      While we are on bowl games, it will be interesting to see if Penn St. wins out how they handle that. Penn beat OSU head to head. They will have a win over Wisconsin by that time too.

                        Think Ohio St still makes the playoffs.

                        Ohio St -> playoff
                        Penn St -> Rose
                        Michigan -> Orange
                        Wisconsin -> Cotton

                          The selection committee had Ohio State and Michigan in the top 4 . Now the committee has definitely got a problem. Of course Ohio State won their match up with Michigan and now neither will be in that conference title game. That game will be between two 2 loss teams in Penn State and Wisconsin so ...

                          at least two of the power five conferences likely won't be represented in the playoffs by their league champion. MOF, if 'bama were to get upset by Florida is there anyone that thinks the committee would place Florida in the playoffs over Alabama? What's the point of having a league championship game? How about if Clemson loses to Va Tech or Colorado upsets Washington? Same scenario.

                          They simply must go to an 8 team playoff with the power 5 conference champions as participants with the committee choosing 3 at large teams.

                              I think what RV said about 8 teams is the best. Power Five conference winner gets a bid. Then you have three at large bids for someone like Michigan or someone out of the power five that has had a great year.

                                Here's a pretty good graphic of how the bowl selections go for the SEC. Florida will go to the Sugar Bowl. I think Alabama will be in the playoff no matter what happens Saturday.

                                Citrus Bowl gets next pick. It won't be Kentucky but I assume either Tex A&M,LSU or Auburn.

                                Then the group of six is next. This is where Kentucky will fall in. I think they will be in the 4 to 6 pick.

                                I assume USC and Vandy will be the last two picks for the Birmingham Bowl and Independence.

                                Bowl announcements are next Sunday. So we have a week to speculate.
