Just a tongue in cheek thing TC.....
Boils down to I'm really pleased with the heart and effort this team has shown in this mini streak. I've seen far, far too many teams....including Joker Phillips bowl team that lost to a team who's coach had been released.....that for some reason or another seem to pack it in when things aren't going their way.
I guess one thing I'm saying it's a lot easier for a kid to play for Alabama, who may lose at most two games a year, than to keep the effort and attitude up at schools like UK....where every win is a workout.Comment

Gotcha. I know Jworld does the lolololol thing so I didn't know if you were paying tribute to him.

I never played any sport on a dominate team like Alabama. Meaning my teams always had a chance to lose. For me I feel like it would be harder to keep that attitude on a dominate team because you could get into the mindset of "we will win just by showing up."Comment

I agree. Saban
has to do the same thing Cal does....Just tougher. I saw Saban interviewed at halftime of the Tennessee game....he was saying over and over we got to play better. And this was when the tide was beating the number seven team in the nation by two touchdowns in their house. And it wasn't that close.Comment

I'm not sure what the beef is....UK won? How can fans question clock management? Sure, it would have been nice to have a closer FG, but - it wasn't needed? For all the "fellowship of the miserable" stuff....why in the WORLD would any UK fan nitpick a WIN? I mean, if they had 10 turnovers and gave up a 1000 yards to the other team and still won, who cares?? When UK consistently wins>=6 games a season, then start worrying about style points.
Its like a poster two weeks back posting "Well, if Stoops/UK can't get the job done against Vandy...." - um, they DID get the job done against Vandy. Was it pretty? Nope. Was it nail biting on that last series, yep. But did they "get the job done?" Yes, yes they did. Like they did last night.
Weird. Maybe its just me.

It's definitely not just you. When it comes to UK football a win is a win. Especially an SEC win. We've got three of those for the first time in how long? I know there's always something that can be fixed or changed about a performance and the idea is to always get better. But, we don't have that luxury with football right now. We may one day, but as long as the team gets better, the staff gets better, and they don't quit or give up I'm thrilled. They won, it wasn't pretty, but the bowl games don't select you by pretty wins they select you by the number in the win column.I'm not sure what the beef is....UK won? This was the type of game UK usually loses. Maybe this is a program changer for Stoops? Only time will tell. I am happy for a UK win in football anytime. I really don't care how it took place. I have seen too many of these type of games over the years go the other way. UK could use a few lucky breaks. Just two wins away from a bowl game. Mizzou is terrible but its a road game. Austin Peay should be a gimme game even for UK. UGA is down this year despite having some good talent and UT is hurting really bad. If things break perfectly it could turn into a special season. But for now I just hope they can beat Missouri and move on to the next game.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

Re: clock management.
It worked. I don't think he was trying to play it that way, but if he calls the time-out I'm not sure they complete that over-the-middle pass that set up the field goal.
So really it was played perfectly. Conventional wisdom just says you play it another way. But sometimes conventional wisdom doesn't work.Comment

I need to apologize to johnnykblue. If you feel I called you names, that wasn't my intent and I'm sorry you took it that way. I always have the officials back, but I call it like it is. When I think they make a mistake, I say so, but to make a comment they are trying to get players hurt, hit a nerve with me because that is never the case.John 3:3

Thank you. For the record, I didn't say they were trying to. My point was that they were missing so much it might have gotten players hurt, as many of the rules are meant to protect players. I know they weren't trying to get people hurt. I wasn't clear.I need to apologize to johnnykblue. If you feel I called you names, that wasn't my intent and I'm sorry you took it that way. This is what I was referring to, and it's pretty clear. I'm done!
They missed a million calls. They were awful. Stoops was going to get an unsportsmanlike conduct until white hat watched it on the big screen and saw how badly they missed that. One of the worst uncalled games I've ever seen. They could have, and probably did, get people hurt.

With every win Kentucky notches, I cringe more at the Southern Miss loss.
You beat Southern Miss and we're looking at potentially a special season. Now, it could still end up being special, but we obviously have work to do yet.
But Southern Miss assures us of a bowl at this point. And that's not a team we should have lost to; a couple of weeks ago they were dismantled by the University of Texas-San Antonio.
I give Stoops credit for how this team has fought and not quit. And the defense is much better, even with the issues they had this past week.
But if we do end up with five again I'm not sure how much has changed. The game this weekend is of monumental importance.Comment
