For many of us the negativity fits. I think the problem becomes when posters get so determined to be negative even in the face of positivity. This is where we've had issues with certain people on both this forum and the basketball board. We beat South Carolina and the defense made major strides Saturday night. You have to give him credit for that.
But if you look at the entire Stoops tenure: no, he hasn't succeeded. At all. That's not negativity, it's pragmatism.
We've had this debate countless times on WCN. The question is always about where the line of too much negativity is drawn.
The exact same argument happened with Joker. That fans were way too harsh. That people didn't want to come to this site anymore. And slowly and slowly Kentucky slipped to the point where it couldn't compete with even the worst of the SEC.
On the other hand, we had a similar conversation about Rich Brooks until we weren't having it.
I've been around here for all that. Trust me, it's not nearly as negative here as it is on other sites, mostly because we have more restrained posters--and I think generally people here like each other more than they do on other boards. But more than "negative" or "positive," as a fan you have to be realistic or these conversations aren't worth having. And I look around WCN and see nothing that's over the top w/r/t Stoops.
We can't change the tenor of the board only because some fans want more positivity. That defeats the purpose of places like this. There haven't been enough sustained results to warrant that.
