I'm not the only one tired of hearing the endless same ole same ole with regard to Stoops from several posters. We've had FOC spreading garbage and now a couple of others want to keep the rant going. You have a right to your opinion. This was a positive site when I first came here. I know. If I am tired of hearing it I don't need to login. I just want to make sure that this is the site's direction. His performance has not been "garbage" for four seasons. So he's done no good at all? Where do you get off using the term "garbage?"
For many of us the negativity fits. I think the problem becomes when posters get so determined to be negative even in the face of positivity. This is where we've had issues with certain people on both this forum and the basketball board. We beat South Carolina and the defense made major strides Saturday night. You have to give him credit for that.

But if you look at the entire Stoops tenure: no, he hasn't succeeded. At all. That's not negativity, it's pragmatism.

We've had this debate countless times on WCN. The question is always about where the line of too much negativity is drawn.

The exact same argument happened with Joker. That fans were way too harsh. That people didn't want to come to this site anymore. And slowly and slowly Kentucky slipped to the point where it couldn't compete with even the worst of the SEC.

On the other hand, we had a similar conversation about Rich Brooks until we weren't having it.

I've been around here for all that. Trust me, it's not nearly as negative here as it is on other sites, mostly because we have more restrained posters--and I think generally people here like each other more than they do on other boards. But more than "negative" or "positive," as a fan you have to be realistic or these conversations aren't worth having. And I look around WCN and see nothing that's over the top w/r/t Stoops.

We can't change the tenor of the board only because some fans want more positivity. That defeats the purpose of places like this. There haven't been enough sustained results to warrant that.

Great post, Will. Actually things are a lot quieter and more civil here than on other boards.

That's a question for another year; it won't happen this year. But if you like Kentucky football, you like football. Enjoy the game anyway. That Alabama team has some outstanding players. Enjoy the chance to watch them play, individually, and as a team unit.

Most years, a Kentucky basketball team cruises through a lot of SEC arenas where the home team has very little chance of winning. Basketball fans still go and enjoy the game, and seeing a team of that caliber. There's no reason not to do that with this game.
