It was all the talk of my section. What was going to happen? Who was going to be appointed to finishing out the season as head coach. Now I have some hope that maybe this ugly thing is not true. Not saying he won't be let go at the end of the season, but not for the reason that is being said.
Even after the victory tonight, I still don't think Stoops is the guy. But I do not want to see his tenure end in that way.

KSR reporting that the "Rumors not true". http://kentuckysportsradio.com/footb...o-war-for-him/

No legitimate news agency has anything...

Had this been confirmed by UK when the original gossip post went up there is no way he coaches this game.

The University needs to put this to rest. It got out of control very quickly. That way we can all put it to rest and not be wondering if it is or isn't

Thats why every rumor I read I take it to not be true until an official announcement is made from someone who is in the loop about it. So lets see what other rumors will come out now since these have came out as false.

That's what has me puzzled, Cathy. If there's nothing to it, why doesn't UK squelch it?

Players laying it all on the line, for an embattled coach, doesn't necessarily mean he's safe. I remember when the announcement had already been made that Fran Curci wouldn't be back. The team went out and defeated Tn. in his final game, and carried him off the field on their shoulders.

I sure hope this rumor turns out to be false. And if it is, the generator of it should run and hide under a rock for the rest of the season because there isn't a much worse person than one who spreads lies. Especially those lies that have an agenda behind it. I happen to like Coach Stoops. He may not be what we thought he would be, but that doesn't mean you cook up a smear campaign and drag him and his family through the mud. If false, then some fans have stooped to an all-time low.

I wanted Petrino, because he was a proven winner, Now, with what everyone is saying, Petrino should have been hired from day 1.All those people that wanted a preist for a head coach deserve what they get, non winning football.by not hiring the man they should have in the first place. Nobody has dropped the bombshell on here yet about Stoops They are letting it come out in the press. But the story is everywhere. The student body, the big boosters and even the casual fans have heard what is going on, Petrino doesn't look so bad now and the AD looks bad for passing on him.

I am not enamored with Stoops. He has not impressed me on the field. Wins and losses are how a team is judged. If he get canned, who do they get? How much cost will it be, if the new coach wants an all new staff? Who will run the team the rest of the season, if he is let go? Will he finish out the season?

As for the players rallying around the coach, I agree that emotion can only carry them so far and it will wither away.

I wanted Petrino as well. If this rumor is true, I would be fine with Gran finishing out the season. Then we go after Tom Hermann. Or Jeff Brohm.

                      I agree completely, BH.

Good points, boomday. I too wanted UK to hire coach Petrino. The UK policy of only hiring people with no character blemishes really irks me. One of the most popular Presidents was rumored to have had affairs with multiple women and that didn't keep him from doing a good job. If the powers that be, at UK, are going to persist in following this line of thinking I doubt we'll ever have a very good fb team.

This was the main thing that got me yesterday. I understand why Matt Jones couldn't have said anything on the pregame but he just as easily could have said something on Twitter. He instead waited until after the game was over to say it was false. Justin Rowland for Rivals tweeted he thought Stoops was guaranteed 2017 because of the buyout. He said that yesterday he no longer thought that to be the case.

I have no idea whether, or not, there's anything to this, but it's interesting to speculate about, in my opinion. If it were up to me (which it's not), I wouldn't be in too big of a hurry to close the thread.

I wish I could drop all the F bombs that I'd like to direct at the piece of garbage that started this rumor.

Why can't we talk about a good win and how we dominated the 4th qtrr?
