    My goodness

Bad spot for a desperate program to be in already. Gotta win at the swamp the second game of the season to keep a disgruntled fan base from turning commonwealth stadium into an empty echo chamber.
Terrible time to have a terrible half. Looked like things were clicking.

I've read on a couple sites a lot of venom at the offense. All I can say to that is 35 points.
Most teams can find a way to make do with that. Especially if at one time you were 25 ahead.

Insane thing is looking around the conference this team still has a shot. Lot of poor teams.
Unfortunately next week isn't one of them.

This team will be fine. They can obviously score and have an elite secondary in the making. I know the run defense is going to be the Achilles heel, but they can still get to six wins. I expect Eliot to be gone by the end of the year unless he figures out how to make adjustments. But I've also thought that for now the third year. Gran, Hinshaw, and Stoops will do their part. We still have Miss St, NM St, A Peay, Missouri, Vandy, and South Carolina that are all winnable games. We are also known to play an expected loss to a close game. We might pull one shocker this year.

How many more embarrassing disasters will it take for you to admit that this team is not fine?

They've only played one game this season. Forgive me for not jumping ship like everyone else. The potential is there.

I will never jump ship. I'm a sucker I guess. But I can't blame those who do because it's a proven fact that Stoops' teams regress.

I won't either. That said something better improve or the stadium will be empty. Maybe I can get a Paddock ticket for a game. Gotta find a positive. A seat there would be a good positive

last night was the first time in 40+ years that I questioned my commitment to UK Football.

D J Eliot needs to go. They lined up in the same formation and rn the same counter play over and over and over and he couldn't come up with an adjustment to stop it.

I don't totally understand the outrage at a defensive front that is a bad as advertised or suspected in per season. The o looked much improved and to me indicates recruiting coaching moving in the right direction. You can't have a defense get zero stops for more than a half and expect to win.

The losses of Meant and Tubman are really showing.

Losing Hatcher didn't help any either.

After having tix as long as I have, just can't give them up. If you want to give yours up, I usually have an extra. You know where I sit

Can't blame the defense for the second half. Check out these passing stats for Barker:

                        FIRST HALF 11-19-0 287 yards 0 sacks
                        SECOND HALF 4- 5-1 26 yards 4 sacks

I'm convinced that going conservative with the offense breaks your rhythm and puts you in more "passing-down" situations, which in turn lets the opposing D tee off on the QB. Hence the sacks. It puts the offense totally out of sync. I think our coaching staff does the team a disservice by ratcheting down the attack in the second half. If you go into clock management at all, DON'T DO IT UNTIL THE FOURTH QUARTER! (See my other post entitled "Second halves", where I talk about the FOUR games last year where this same thing happened.) At halftime last night, I told my wife that I was sure - since we have a new OC - that it wouldn't happen again. But it did.

Actually, the def. should shoulder some of the blame, in my opinion. I realize they spent a lot of time on the field, but they did give up 27 points in the second half. Perhaps if they had made a few stops, the off. might have done better.

What does a HC do, during the game, anyway? Coordinators call the plays. Coach Stoops is supposed to be a defensive guru. My suggestion is to put Eliot somewhere, where he can't do any harm, and let coach Stoops run the def.

We knew the defense was going to be bad, but that was on another level entirely.

If Southern Miss can line up and run it straight up the gut whenever they want, then God help us when we hit the SEC.

That was one of the poorer defensive efforts I've seen from UK. That's probably a 3-win team we saw, and if it turns out like that both Stoops and Barnhart are in trouble.

Four years is enough time with the money these guys make.
