And here I thought our defensive woes needed to be adressed first.

Watching the LA Tech bowl game I see One answer to our O problems... Their Receivers don't miss! Maybe we should recruit LA.

That's because they Want to catch the ball. Our WR's want to, seemed to be missing.

This. Kentucky had the 2nd worst rated defense in the SEC. The special teams play was one of the worst in the country. Yes, the offense was horrible and I'm glad Dawson is gone but I have little doubt he's placing too much blame on the offense to protect his flawed defense and his good friend running that flawed defense.

If he's doing that then IMO he's not suited to be the coach here. I want someone who puts the team above friendship.

La. is a fertile recruiting ground. If I counted correctly, 69 of 99 players, listed on the Tigers' roster, hail from there, including a pretty fair country running back by the name of Leonard Fournette.

Former Redhound on that roster. KY showed interest in him but no firm scholarship offer.

How much of the defensive woes were because of the number games where we came out in the 3rd qtr and went three and out, three and out, three and out? I don't think the Pittsburgh Steeler defense of the 70's would have been very good in that situation.

Add to that the loss of the defensive MVP, by far, Lewis.

IF, is the key word in this post, and I think CS is aware of the consequences of protecting any Assistant.

He was born in TN and grew up in Corbin and ended up in LA. Dad was a former Redhound and Hilltopper that transferred to LA with his job and got the kids in a great high school down there. He is a Randall Cobb type. Undersized. Doesn't pass the look test because you cannot see his drive and heart until he is at work. You can watch his HS films and see that he is one of THOSE guys.

Thanks for the update, Cblue. I always love hearing about anyone with a Redhound connection. IIRC, Greg has an older brother named Jim. While I don't know them, personally, I remember when they played for CHS.

I think any one of these three things would've made a huge difference on offense and put UK into a bowl game in 2015:

                              1. a healthy Maxwell Smith at quarterback

                              2. Randy Sanders as QB coach and Joker Phillips as WR coach

                              3. Joker Phillips as offensive coordinator

Inconsistent QB and WR play and deficient playcalling killed this team and made all the difference in the 5 point loss to Florida, the 3 point loss to Auburn and the 4 point loss at Vanderbilt.

Each of those must be better in 2016.
