A medical redshirt is not the issue. He should easily qualify for one. However, without a waiver of the five to play four rule, he will be out of time. Given past precedence, he will not qualify for a waiver of the five to play four rule. But as you say "who knows" what the NCAA will do in a given situation.

Terry is currently in the fourth year of the five to play four rule. So, he will be eligible next year. This is not an additional year due to the injury, just the normal five to play four.

Welllllll according to Stoops, I am incorrect. Because he's already had a redshirt year, next year will be his last year of eligibility.

I just saw a post on a different forum that the NCAA now considers a redshirt year in a player first year to be beyond the players control. This post appears to be correct in that two U Mich players who were redshirted their freshman year and then suffered a season ending injury in a later season, have been granted a sixth year. Since TW was redshirted his freshman year at Oregon and then suffered a season ending injury in a later year, don't see an reason why he would not be granted a sixth year if he applies.

I just heard last weekend a player from either Oklahoma or Ohio State (can't remember) that just got 6th year waiver, played his first game last week...
I would like to know more about the exceptions to get you a 6th year.
