That's not even remotely the same comparison and totally misses Will's point. It's not realistic to compare 40 year old over the hill guys with guys who are going to contribute on next year's roster. That makes it still an interesting game to watch - to see how these guys are going to do and gauge where they'll be in progress next year. I'll still watch the preseason games of my favorite NFL team because I want to see how the draftees other players are going to fare for the season.

You are right, its not remotely the same but either way Snell was basically the offense this year. Its not like hes a random special teams guy. So I really dont care to see an entirely different offensive team trying to make up things because at the last minute things have changed due to this decision. Watching a preseason game that doesn't mean squat has no comparison to a bowl game either. You already know your team is experimenting and it doesnt even go on the record. Complete throw away games that are actually meant to do that with rookies and new editions. JMO. Then again, I dont watch the NFL at all anymore but thats a different story.

To each his own, but saying that I am not watching just because a couple of players are sitting out misses my point too. Snell and Allen arent just a couple of guys. They are THE guys. Lets say Gunner Hoak and Asim Rose sit out. I promise I will watch.Comment

Is it possible you don't really like football very much?

I dislike football. But I love UK football. I think I've watched UK football when they had one or two wins. I can't not watch. I'm dang sure going to watch them play in one of the biggest bowls in the history of the program.
The other games not so much. I couldn't tell you who's playing in the playoff outside of Alabama.Comment

I'll say, there have been some interesting comments on this issue. It just seems the attitude and comments are different when many of you talk about the one 1 and done players on the basketball thread.
I personally think there's no good excuse for not playing in a bowl game, but that's just my 2 cents worth.

After the season, all bets are off. Have no problem with guys chasing their dreams after all the games have been played. We're talking about a game that's part of the season. A huge game at that.
I ain't gonna be mad at them if they don't play, I'm just saying were it my son, he's playing.Comment

I think the difference is we still really see it as the season, while calling it an expensive exhibition game. I think there was much the same buzz last year with Vanderbilt on the basketball team.....even though it's kinda obviously now he was actually fragile.I'll say, there have been some interesting comments on this issue. In a general sense yes its possible. Its a large universe there are many possibilities. But if you just want a direct answer, I love football. I am posting in a football thread. People generally gather in places of interest. I am even on other football forums. I have been in the USC football forum and am still a member of the Texas Aggies football forum. But, we can rule out all possibilities.

I agree with this. What I dont get is the weight of this game vs. other games when you know you have 20 or 30 million at stake? It is what it is but the argument is weak. The reason we have one and dones is because of the NBA age limit. You wouldnt see these kids at all if not for that.

It is part of the season, no question about it. If Benny sets a new UK rushing record, due in part to yards gained in the bowl game, there won't be an asterisk by his name.

Then your statement about not watching if certain players sit out doesn’t make much sense. I mean, to each his own but if one is a UK Football fan I don’t see how you “don’t watch†this game.

Not much more I can say. As much sense as it doesn't make to you, its just how I feel. If Snell weren't such a huge part of our offense I might feel different. I would rather watch two teams at full strength that I have followed this year and see them battle it out. To be honest I cant honestly say I will take some sort of stand and refuse to watch the game. It will be more like , If I miss it no biggie. My interest level will plummet. So its not some sort of protest or anything like that, just doesn't hold my interest.Comment

I personally have no strong feelings one way or the other. Sure I would like to see everyone play but I totally get not playing as well.
I saw earlier that Allen, West, Edwards and Johnson had accepted to play in the Senior Bowl. My question would be what would anyone's thoughts be if players skipped their teams bowl game then played in that game? Can just as easily blow out a knee in an all star game as in a normal gameComment
