Actually, last time I saw that was decades ago in the college vs pros all star game. Guy broke his leg catching a pass from Bartkowski. He was gonna be a punter as well.

He healed up, but missed a year.

They stopped the game next year I think.

Sure, but there are lots of things that are statistically rare that we insure against or opt out of.

The one thing that concerns me about this is that neither Benny nor Josh has come right out and said they're playing. This tells me they are, at the very least, entertaining notions of sitting out.

          Have they been asked?

The history with such insurance policies is they almost never pay and the definition of "career ending injury" is nebulous.

If I were a top talent player with a shot at the first round in the NFL, an insurance policy wouldn't prevent me from considering sitting out of a bowl game.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I can't say, for sure, one way or the other, but this is generating so much interest I can't believe no one has asked.

I'm sure the Coaches have and know the answer.

I don't get it. Why wouldn't you watch? We aren't fans of the Snell and Allen Wildcats.

We'd certainly be beaten, but I would definitely watch the game. Seems odd to just lose interest because those two players were out.

And really, looking toward next year it would maybe be more interesting to watch simply because we'd have more players we were counting on next season out there. I'd be interested for instance to see what A.J. Rose could do with a full game of reps against a good team.

I texted with someone today who told me Snell is nearly 100% guaranteed to play and Allen right now is 50/50.

They way I see it is, just because its a UK uniform doesnt mean its the same thing. Would you watch it if a bunch of 40 year old, over the hill guys put on UK uniforms and represented the school? Its not like our punter is wanting to sit out. IF Our SEC defensive player of the year and the running back that our entire offense revolves around do not play then what will I be watching? I want to see the team I watched all year in the bowl game.

Now it would be different if they somehow got hurt (or kicked out of a game) and we had to overcome that adversity. To field a team that simply wears the uniform is not the same for me. Its the people that suited up in those unforms mean something to me. Not the logo

Just to add. I AM fans of the Snell and Allen wildcats. Its a big reason I watched them this year. Watching offensive lines try and stop Allen and leaning into the tv everytime Benny got the ball made it fun for me.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on this. None of this registers for me.

I get wanting to see good football but man, you ride with your team no matter what.

Thats the thing. Its not the same team. Every UK stat they put up about yardage, sacks etc. Will not be for the team fielded. IF Benny and Josh dont have to ride with the team no matter what, I will sit out with them. It just means less.

Many of us have been fans since well before Benny and Josh have been alive.

They've meant a lot to UK football, sure, but their decisions are their own. And their decisions will be contingent on future earnings. We don't have to make that decision as fans.

I don't think they'll choose to not play. I would be against it were it my son, regardless of the money. Have no problem with guys jumping after all the games are played. Jumping out with games on the table shouldn't happen. As others have pointed out, you can be hurt at any point. Against scrubs, in practice, in blow-outs (and I've seen both Allen and Snell in there during blow-outs).

                            They should play.

On that we agree. The weight of this game in my eyes is much greater than any regular season game. Others dont see it that way. My question is, then what are we playing for?

I think it's mainly respect, something UK football has very rarely gotten.

Also there are major recruiting dividends to be earned if we win. He's trying to reel in the next Snell and Allen and hopefully because of the success of this season those types of players are already interested in UK.
