KENTUCKY vs Texas A&M Game Thread.

A&M's run defense is very good. And it was obvious their plan was to stop Snell at all costs. Running him headfirst into a brick wall was going to accomplish nothing. Wilson was going to have to make plays to win that game.

But dropping back, standing in the pocket and throwing the ball downfield is hardly his strength. I would have liked to see more of the quick outs to Bowden, screens, the 5 yard over the middle throws. The things he is comfortable with and capable of. Passing the ball doesn't mean you have to stand back there and throw it as far as you can.

Im afraid you are in a small minority on this thinking. Matter of fact we lost with that thinking. Benny did have many good rushes in this game. Yes A&M has a good defense but not unbeatable. Our biggest weakness was at QB and thats how we ended the game. I am perplexed at this decision and how anyone can be ok with it? If you have one of the best backs in the country use him on 3rd and 2. Use him twice if you need to but dont let yourself be taken out of field goal range with a sack. Whatever you do thats the one thing that cant happen. They let it happen.

Why are we talking like we are 1-5 and just got beat by East Montana Tech???????

Stoops said in the post game show they had talked about briefly about changing QBs during the game but decided against it.

Gran said "Looking back on it, I wish I would've handed it to 26." So at least he knows he made a mistake. I still don't know how you make that mistake in the first place.

Lol...I wish they had discussed it longer...I think TW could have used a couple series to pull his head back in the game.

Handing it to 26 ..... Well....smh...I agree.

On to a week off and getting heads back on straight. Despite comments to the contrary, I think all the big pub finally had the rat poison effect.

Yup...same guy. Right here. Coach is getting paid PLENTY and with the perks package and auto extensions, AND a buyout that is phenomenal, he's fine.

I'm thrilled with this season. I predicted 8-4 with losses to Florida, Miss St, A&M, and Georgia. But, it's aggravating we have a RB who could get two yards against a brick wall and Gran tries to get cute. Clearly Wilson wasn't ready for that atmosphere and there's nothing wrong with that, but the staff should've realized that and not gotten complicated. IMO, we run a direct snap to Benny. Twice if need be. Go for a big win on the road riding your best player. There's absolutely no excuse Snell doesn't touch the ball in OT.

Ask the Seahawks. Coach Carrol would show you a very good resume.

I'm fine with being in the minority. Handing off on the one particular play in OT wouldn't have been a bad call.. But on the whole running the ball was not going to win that game. A&M wasn't going to allow it.

Snell is your bell cow and you have to run him more than 13 times. Especially when you have a QB who is limited and doesn't have good receivers outside of Bowden and Conrad. I think the coaches just out thought themselves this game. It didn't help either that they had to juggle the offensive line in the 1st half with Jackson getting hurt. That will always mess up your offense. But you do have to figure out a way to get the ball more to Bowden and Conrad. Only three touches each for them. That has to be better.

Defense is top notch and they keep proving. it. Nothing on them. They did all they could to win this game.

Still a good shot at a great season. They should be 9-3 at worse and 10-2 a good possibility. A good week off to get healthy and re vamp the offense a little will do a world of good.

O line has to play better. Too many penalties. Wilson needs to be better.

You can't run him more if he isn't getting first downs. The limit on his carries yesterday was he wasn't getting them, not play calling, not anything else but lack of first downs.

I blew this one. This was the best DL and LB's we've played against. They are obviously a step above Miss State. They whipped our OL. There, I've said it. They pushed the pocket and for the majority of times there was little time to throw the ball. Shut down our running game. They filled the holes, got off blocks, and tackled well. I thought their secondary was their weakness. They covered our receivers like fleas on a puppy. Run Benny? Probably, but I don't think it would have made a difference. I knew we would miss our field goal kicker. We didn't need one against Fla, Miss State, and SC because we scored touchdowns. Change QB's? They were collapsing the pocket ... QB's need pocket time if they are going to throw from the pocket. I'm likely not alone in not giving A&M's defense enough credit. They did what no one else has done on this Saturday evening. I still like my team.
