I saw that. I did NOT realize Denzel got his degree this year. Hard to insist a guy stay especially if he has fulfilled the scholastic end.
Although this is turning message boards wildcat world in a tizzy, I also want to bring up this was one of the young men the fan base, coaching staff and even athletic director called to order after last year's Louisville catastrophe.
I appreciate most of what the young man did while he was here. A change of place may benefit him as much as it damages fans hopes for next season.👍 1 -
Sorry, I am not going to be nearly so gracious. First, it was Badet, now Ware. The graduate transfer rule is going to devastate middling programs. If a player is buried on the depth chart, and needs to move on to improve his situation, then maybe I can understand this. However, that was clearly not the case with Baden and it is clearly not the case with Ware. You can all wish him the best of luck. Unless some additional news comes out to justify the transfer, I will not do so.Last edited by SBCatMan; 05-03-2018, 06:19 PM.Comment

the probability is very high that there are other considerations here. He was called out last year for not doing some of the things that were required. He reportedly got it together and was back on the team with no problem. Could be he just decided he didn't want to keep meeting the criteria ... whatever they were or are. I am clueless and wish he would be back on the field for us this fall. But that is selfish and this choice may be the best for all concerned. We'll be alright.Comment

This makes me sick. I hate this rule and I despise the lack of regard for teammates and the program.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... Disappointing, but it's his choice to make. I agree with the no consideration for teammates.John 3:3

Kengera by all reports was playing well in the spring and I lamented that it was a shame he would end his career playing behind another Senior. Now he won't. At that spot we still have
Kengera Daniel
Jordan Wright
Chris Whittaker
and Boogie can swing over there if needed
Not saying this isn't a blow but it doesn't appear to be catastrophic.Comment

This is a head scratcher. Why does a long time starter leave? Makes no sense to me. I can understand why a receiver left for a chance to play with a better QB, but not a D guy who has a bunch of his fellow starters returning, with a chance to make something special on that side of the ball.Comment

Rules about graduate transfers are likely to result in some good players from many or most programs looking hard at leaving the school that initially gave them their best opportunity and put three or four years of coaching, resources etc. into them, in order to transfer to schools with higher profiles, better post-season prospects, more media attention, etc. It will generally be a net upward loss. The benefits will be allocated in a way that roughly correlates with the allocation of Top 25 votes and network telecasts. Every team loses some players to injury, grades, homesickness, discipline issues, etc. Now, those that ride high in media coverage and poll votes will replenish more of those losses from teams in the 7-5 to 9-4 range. The 7-5, 9-4 range schools can do so with experienced transfers from 6-6 and worse teams. It’s all likely to greatly benefit schools that already enjoy a lot of advantages and need no benefit, and work to the detriment of everyone else.
Now the coaches are advocating for a new rule to allow transfers to gain another year of eligibility if they graduate from their new school. That’ll make the problem worse IMO.

College football and fan interest will both be diminished if it devolves into a free agent market. Are we getting closer to a point at which players themselves may begin to be marketed, have endorsement deals and that sort of thing? Is this all about generating more hype, money and marketing at the cost of the quality of the underlying product? Are the marketers taking over and looking to more closely emulate the models of the NBA, MLB, etc. in which a system is set up to coddle a handful of perpetually successful teams with big reliable audiences and national brands, while everyone else plays for the occasional, fleeting seat at the table now and then? If so, I think that’ll greatly diminish much of what makes CFB special. Successful programs already have more than enough advantages. The product is already squeezed and distorted enough by attempts to shake every last dime out of it.Last edited by Old School; 05-04-2018, 06:45 AM.👍 3Comment

Ware's transfer is strangely quiet. There's not a lot, if anything, on the social media platforms I follow, being said about it.Last edited by Matt Dillon; 05-04-2018, 12:40 PM.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

There has to be more to this story than we know. If he planned to transfer, why would he go through spring practice and then leave? Lot's of questions about this.John 3:3

I heard he had a very good personal reason to stay in Lex this spring semester.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... At least he didn't go social media and blast the staff...yet.
Part of me wonders if this is still fallout from the trash can incident and those repercussions.
Another part of me wonders if the young man is actively shopping himself around and has hopes of landing on a national contender ala Badet. If so, I'm not sure what contender doesn't already have it's D line set.
College sport with the grad transfer has worked it's way to a whole nother level of head scratch.Comment
