UK football players possibly involved in Richmond bar fight

There is no plan B if Barker is gone. From what I have seen, Towles did not have to worry if he didn't perform, last season. There was nobody else to take the job. There was no Juco guy in the wings. There was a hotshot on the team that the staff did not want to burn his redshirt. No other serious contenders. It is still a two man race. Not only does last year's starter need the threat of job security to push him to improve, the team needs two solid QBs, in case there is an injury. If the staff was going to get rid of Barker, I would surely think that they would at the very least have brought in a Juco for a insurance.Comment

Burn him at the stake...http://www.wkyt.com/sports/uk/headli...290988921.html
now there are 2 cases and Barker is the victim. Not sure what to think is going on.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... What I heard is the fight at the bar was first then continued on EKU's campus later. Who knows?Comment

^ I don't think we will. Sounds like UK has made a counter move, and chances are this will go away.
Spiritof96 jokes "Burn him at the stake", but I think everyone here just wants an outcome that is "right". Our guys initially put themselves in this position and now look...we might not have a real backup QB next year and 2 of Stoops' biggest recruits might have, at the least, greatly stunted their opportunities here.Comment

I understand the need to make quality decisions and to be aware the context they have stepped into... (i.e. be smart)^ I don't think we will. Sounds like UK has made a counter move, and chances are this will go away.

BUT
When I was a freshmen, I played "man hunt" on campus with a plastic toy pellet gun. (air soft hadn't been invented) It was awesome by the way.
I swam in a fountain.
I climbed onto the roof of a building
I was a minor sport varsity athlete.
AND
I got into a fist fight. (Had I been a more imposing specimen I would have gotten in a lot more)
The point is, I truly wasn't a wayward thug, criminal, or menace to society. I was in a bible study, I took care of people, and your daughter would have been safe with me. I was an 18 year old male who was at times, a terrible evaluator of risk and IMHO I was not an outlier in this.
I don't say this to minimize the severity of what these guys have done, my own shenanigans could have easily gone sideways and gotten myself or someone else hurt. It was also a different time, without the context of school shootings and before social media really got going. At the end of the day, I think some of the criticism expressed in this thread is uninformed, knee jerk, and perhaps over the top.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... Just stupid on the UK player's parts. Why, after getting into one bar fight would you go back to EKU's campus and to where the people you already fought were located?
Once is bad enough, two fights is just ridiculous.👍 1Comment

After reading on KSR about the issue. Sounds like a bunch of college kids partying and things, as they often do, got out of control. To me the issue is, why are 3 UK Football players any where but the dorm at 2 in the morning, much less in Richmond, that is lets face it, just a party town with a bad reputation. Now ad to that, that you are a football player at the state university, and a lot of the players at EKU feel they got slighted, ad a few drinks and whatever else may have been used, and people start letting emotion and the want to prove themselves and essentially you have a powder keg with a burning fuse. As I was always told, NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS AFTER MIDNIGHT.Comment

I wonder where the Parents are in this situation. Nobody's heard a word from them and they should be involved the most IMO.John 3:3

That their kids have a public image doesn't mean that their parents do. (Unless they have created one that I am unaware of) Not hearing from them doesn't imply they aren't involved.
If my kid were on the team and got into trouble of this sort, I wouldn't say a word to the press.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... Good point 96. I sure would be involved if either were my son.John 3:3
