Mr Barker is turning into a "Not so good" representative of the UK football Program. I wonder if these few players and their behavior have anything to do with the recent "flips?" I doubt it, but somethings going on.John 3:3

This past few weeks has been troubling. I am also concerned with the midseason downturn of what SEEMED to be the attitude of some of the team. I know none of us are saints. Me especially.
There seems to be something developing more of the Miami Hurricane attitude of a few years ago rather than an Alabama cohesiveness. Seems. If this is the same group that was involved in prior incidents, I have to wonder about the benefit to the program. The picture of the young man from Eastern showed what I would say not a 'regular' scrap. That pic was pretty serious.
Throw in one of the players has exhibited behavior on the field that is a little over the line between assertive and aggressive......
I dunno. I wish this was playing out differently. It will certainly test the mettle of this group of young coaches.
As far as the flips and apparently some questions on whether a player can qualify academically, I am realizing more and more why some teams....whether Ol Miss, UT, bama or others.....accept verbal commits in excess of the 25 limit.Comment

(As a scout in a different sport) the most difficult aspect of the job has been gauging their character and toughness, I've been burned plenty in the past ten years. You can meet with the kid, parents, and coaches and get no idea how tough and mature they are mentally, especially when they are trying to portray something (which is a natural reaction similar to being interviewed for a job/sales pitch). Talent is easy to see, their mind isn't.👍 2Comment

I doubt it as well, since these are the same three that were involved in the air gun incident last fall.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

Sort of a straw man.
I think most saw the BB gun incident as alarming considering it shut the campus down. Nobody that I can recall was suggesting jail time, but many were (rightly) calling for a suspension.
The last thing we need are more enablers of athletes. Not sure if you've ever worked in schools, but I have. The amount of coddling of athletes is incredible. It happens all the way down into the lower grades and continues up. You want to know why so many of these athletes are broke later in life? Why the college graduation percentages--in every sport--are atrociously low? Why so many get in trouble? It begins early.
The worst thing you can do with a kid--and an 18-/19-year-old is still a kid--is look the other way. The first people who want to look the other way is the fan. The fan has ulterior motives that are more about his well-being and not the player's, and the fan is the absolute worst at athlete-coddling. It's a culture of hero worship and sycophantism, and it's just as bad as the "break out the pitchforks" crew that always shows up when these things happen.
All that said, I'm not sure about the bar fight. There've been some rumors that the EKU player was a bad actor. But at this point it's impossible to know what to believe. It's not like the BB gun incident at all, where there really was no doubt about what went down. This is far murkier.👍 3Comment

There's a saying I use quite often, that it's a lot easier to give advice than it is to take it. I realize hindsight is 20/20, but even if the EKU player instigated the fight, the UK players should have left the bar (actually, they shouldn't have been there to begin with). If the EKU player did start the fight, the UK players are still probably going to come out of this in bad shape. They're probably facing legal action plus they may be dismissed from the team as well.

If you don't understand how dumb it is to have something that looks like a real gun, not just in public, but on a college campus, then I don't know what to say. Unfortunately bb guns and airsoft guns have long been made to look like popular "real guns", and a kid running around with one with his hood pulled over is asking for something dangerous to happen. Not to mention we have no idea what they actually were shooting toward.

Drew Barker needs to explain these incidents in his "Diary". Hard to believe that "All-American, Boy-Next-Door" is turning out to be totally stupid. Doesn't matter who started what - he never should have been there in the middle of the night to begin with. I'm guessing Stoops is shopping for a QB right now.

Yes, I truly understand. Some fans reacted as if those young men had robbed a bank or went to a retirement home and beaten up the elderly. The shock and horror of it all. The civil disobedience has certainly made an impact on my life.
