    Interesting beers of note

Brother-in-law was in New York City for Thanksgiving and reported that this beer was excellent.

Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin - California brew. Said it was spicey, but not overly so.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Has anyone tried the new Kentucky Honey Barrel Brown Ale, a variant on Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale?

Treated myself to some Stone AB a couple months back, but otherwise haven't had any good beers lately Wish I could contribute on that front, but will have to wait until I'm in Lexington again for a run to LB.

I've switched to cans of MHL as they're never skunked unlike their more aesthetically pleasing bottled counterpart.

Virginia has a thriving craft brewery scene. Starr Hill is out of Charlottesville (A wonderful smaller city). They have a really good pale ale "Grateful" less bitter than their IPA which is to be expected.

I was in Galax, VA a couple months ago and had a very good Vienna Lager. I don't remember the name of the brew pub though

Have tried two very good beers lately. Dirty Bastard by founders. Scottish ale. Also been enjoying sierra Nevada annual run of narwhal. An excellent stout... both go well with a good steak of burger..

I'll look for the Narwhal, that might be something I can find here. The Food City in Prestonsburg seems to be decreasing their selection of brew, but I'm told there will soon be a separate store attached to the building. Perhaps then I might have some more choices.

One day I want to hit the Galax bluegrass fest. It is quite a haul from my place. Devils Backbone is a brewer in the area and they have a nice Lager.

I'm a big fan of stouts (and porters, too). The problem for me is availability due in part to timing, as I don't want either during the summer months. I think Stone's Imperial Russian Stout is awfully good, but their Porter is just ok.

West Sixth Christmas Ale. Along the lines of Southern Tiers 2Xmas. A spicy ale in every sense of the word. Excellent campfire sipping brew. And you must sip. 9% abc. Slow down there Santa.

The Village Idiot had a fine ale on tap called Dogfish Head American Beauty. An Imperial Pale Ale actually that was tasty, hoppy with a hint of citrus. This brew is my cup of tea.

Dogfish is out of Delaware which has the closest beaches to DC (~2 hours) they have a brewpub near where I live great food and of course great beer.
